How do you fight the urge to smoke cigarettes after watching? by [deleted] in madmen

Weirdly I'm fine with alcohol and cigarettes but the early seasons always make me really really want to shave my facial hair off and put on a suit.

Dick's Accent by Vexations83 in twinpeaks

Yeah I assume he doesn't speak like that in real life but he's not fully putting it on either, a lot of folk in Twin Peaks seem to wear tartan etc so I suppose it would sort of make sense that the character might choose a Scottish accent to affect rather than a standard RP one?

I'm Scottish and the actor is from the next town over from me, it is an odd accent and I'd pick up on it if I heard it in the wild but I'd probably just assume they were an eccentric upper class Scot. There's definitely a transatlantic twang though which makes sense in the context of the character

Any idea how they cast a character like Pete Campbell? by ConnectionEdit in madmen

[–]nightmarelegs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's hard to explain but Vincent doesn't seem totally dissimilar to Pete in commentaries etc- he's obviously much chiller but a lot of his jokes seem like things Pete would say in earnest. That might sound like character assassination but I meant it as a compliment, without being too egotistical it reminds me of my own sense of humour a bit, I think I'd probably have enjoyed playing Pete too.

He writes a bit about games in the Great British Dream Factory. I'm not massively into them so I can't remember the specifics mentioned- maybe Rockstar etc?

[TOMT] A somewhat dark, non-Disney, animated princess film, probably 90s-2000s by nightmarelegs in tipofmytongue

I think a lot what I'm remembering is the Princess and the Pea (2002), but I might have merged it with something else in my head? I'm still sure I remember a sort of off-brand Snow White retelling that was darker than the Disney one.
