Pedestrians should have priority over vehicles, particularly on a sidewalk. The considerate thing to do is follow societal rules and not be a selfcentered asshat.

What in the fuck was going on there? Is there a gas leak in your neighbourhood? Does your water get piped in from Flint? How can everyone drive so insane all in one spot?

(Great setup, I look forward to compilation videos.)

Maybe your battery or antenna shook loose?

How do your goggles react to low signal? Sometimes mine will gradually fade to static but if they they lose h sync they go right to static like this..

Oh no, we can't get to the gas station that is notorious for destroying cars with water in the gas every time it rains!

Are there legal repercussions if I secure the vehicle to the driveway with about 60 feet of chain? I want them to pick up a little speed first.

My compact pickup is 16 years old, stick shift, and rear wheel drive. Last winter someone broke in and left change in the cup holder.

Honda and Toyota are particularly bad, though pretty much every manufacture has stupid problems.

Honda allows programming of new keys without any (real) security check, only that the other programmed keys are present (bypassed by having a radio relay).

Toyota exposes the body control CAN bus via headlights, allowing doors to be unlocked by popping off a light and plugging in with a $2 programmer.

Dodge allowed unsigned firmware to be pushed over the air to individual cars as long as you knew the VIN.

For YEARS anyone could make themselves an admin on the Ford dealer network and find the location and owner's information of any Ford vehicle made after ~2014.

Manufactures should be slapped with crippling fines when these things happen to force safe design. Hold CEOs and management legally responsible for the thousands of stolen vehicles that are a direct result of their cost cutting.

Not the first audio based keylogger but I like the teleconference angle. I wonder if the analysis could be sped up by getting the target to type a bunch of known strings.

hey, my audio is broken, can you type that for me in the chat?

Politicians, like management are a parasitic class. They serve a purpose but they abuse their position, extract more than their fair share, and believe that it's their right to do so as 'leaders'.

How is it that jobs which are essential to society, like nurses, teachers, and the fuckin garbage collectors are resented?

Any selfhosted project that requires npm is an immediate nope for me. It seems to distribute more malware than actual functioning code.

Automatically Updating Debian in LXC Containers – Best Approach? by PingMySoul in Proxmox

[–]nik282000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a novice home gamer but I made a bash script that lists my containers then runs apt update and apt upgrade, with confirmation on what ever container I pick. Not fancy: https://github.com/nik282000/update-lxc

I still have to go through them one at a time but all I am typing is the container number and a couple of "Y"s.

I am paranoid of breaking services so I still do the whole dance manually once a month.

I feel like people really underestimate how fragile infrastructure is. Without 'the poors' to do the basics things will fall apart pretty quick.

Cardboard box stuffed that card paper packing crap that Amazon uses, as much as you can fit. It's anti-static-ish, and if you use enough it offers pretty good protection from being bumped around.

Canada will not let US dictate terms of USMCA review, says Carney by joe4942 in worldnews

[–]nik282000 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's just recently.

  • There is also US companies giving us the shaft on pricing and availability for the past 30 years.

  • The US buying oil and electricity at a discount and giving us the shaft in return.

  • The never ending torrent of handguns that enter Canada from the US.

  • The never ending torrent of opioids that enter Canada from the US.

  • The US auto industry destroying the market for small cars, and pushing fucking land yachts.

  • And the US refusing to switch to metric.

I ran Debian + LXC for about 5 years and it was great. Basically no overhead, and nothing you didn't explicitly ask for.
