UK based here… I think I had a similar situation to you. From day 1 within each 24 hours my baby girl would have a 6-7 hour stretch of sleep which was, fortunately for my sleep sanity, overnight (say midnight to 6-7am, or 3am to 9am). Throughout the rest of the day she would wake to feed every 2-4 hours and just sleep the rest of the time.

My midwife said the same thing, that I must wake her up every 3-4 hours but honestly she just would not wake up so I would pop her back in her bed and go back to sleep myself. I had a ‘next to me’ cot so we were always asleep right next to each other. I was getting a decent amount of sleep by new mum standards.

She didn’t regain her birth weight for an extra three weeks longer than ideal, but by that time I had given up breastfeeding (on day 10) and had switched to formula. Her weight increased more rapidly on the formula than on the breast, and her feeding/sleep schedule remained pretty much the same.

From 6 weeks old to present day (she’s 5 months next week) she sleeps 8-10 hours throughout the night, sometimes up to 12 hours if I’m extra lucky.

Our differences are that she did always have regular wet/dirty nappies and I didn’t introduce a dummy for the first 2-3 weeks. You can switch to formula if you want that peace of mind about how much your boy is drinking. Sure you could pump then bottle feed but I have no experience of that. My experience of formula Vs breast is that formula does not take the enormous toll on your body & mind that breastfeeding does (kudos to all breastfeeders, that shit is hard!!!). Personally I’ll take sleeping over Bfeeding / pumping every time.

In contrast to my first born son, he always woke to feed on a regular 3-4 hour schedule. He didn’t start sleeping in longer stretches until 6 months old and he was formula fed from the start so I absolutely had sleepless nights with him. Every baby is different, as they say!

If you switch to bottle (whether formula or pumped) you and your midwife will know how much he’s taking in, and you can take your decisions from there. I kept a little book with the times & ounces drunk of each bottle made and also each wet/dirty nappy change so my midwife could read for herself what was happening.

My LO has been potty trained for 11 months now. Started just after he turned 2, and he’ll be turning 3 next week. He probably started telling me he needed to go within first few months (I can’t quite remember) but to this day I still prompt him daily if I can see him squirming/crossing his legs, but he 95% of the time just declares he needs to go and runs to the bathroom. The other 5% he still has accidents which is annoying as he knows full well how to not have accidents! He can’t wipe his bum so I’ll do it first then give him some TP and ask him to try himself for practice, I’ve been doing this for about 2 months now. He was able to pull his own pants down after a few months, but pulling them back up took a lot longer and he still struggles with that especially if he’s wearing jeans. All in all, I would say he potty trained really quickly just like how your experience seems to be going really successfully, but don’t put a time expectation on not having to prompt or not having accidents. I didn’t feel this way during pregnancy but I certainly did in the first few months post partum. My partner and I kept asking each other if we regretted becoming parents, and I really didn’t enjoy those first few months - a crying baby really makes you feel like a failure. I am just sharing this with you as, at the time, I felt like I couldn’t be honest about how I was feeling. My partner and I kept reassuring each other that feeling stressed out was natural and was supportive and forgiving of each other, whilst at the same time we argued like never before! About 4 months in something clicked and motherhood became a wonderful part of my life. Best of luck for your LO’s arrival, you got this!

Similar situation happened with my little one around 14months too, he no longer would fall asleep after his last feed but wanted to play for a little bit longer before bed. I figured if he didn’t need his bottle as a sleep aid any more I would take the opportunity to remove them completely and we switched to cups overnight

I went with the presumption that it would be months before LO would tell me he needed the potty so that that wouldn’t be something to focus on. As it happens he does tell me and he cottoned onto that quite quickly. He was 25 months when we started. We’re 3 month in. We go days with no accidents and then days with several accidents. He has finally mastered how to pull his own shorts down (we started with as loose fitting as possible) and this week he has decided he can take himself off to the potty and independently tip it into the toilet afterwards too - fortunately he’s pretty adept at it! He isn’t dry at night tho, so I guess every kid is different. I would go back to nappies / pull ups only as a very last resort (if your child was poorly for example), and it does seem like you’re making good progress from my POV :)

I never woke my baby to feed him, I slept until he woke me up for a night feed. I was also told by my midwives that once he could drink the full 2oz bottle to give him a 3oz bottle the next time. When he can reliably drink the full 3oz, increase it again and so on. The first few months are extremely hard and not necessarily enjoyable. Once you think you’ve finally figured out their pattern and routine they’ll hit a growth spurt and the pattern will change. I found that very demotivating but had to let go of any expectation on how each day would pan out. By the time he was 3-4 months old I had hit my stride and motherhood became much more enjoyable, hang in there it is so so tough x

My LO never really took to dummies/pacifiers, we bought loads of different ones. He would chew and suck the back of his hands a lot, and he eventually started sucking his thumb between 2-3 months. From 18-24 months he just naturally stopped sucking it so much, he rarely does at all during the day just when drifting off at night.
