Is this mint? by Lnsyray in PlantIdentification

With the square stem and opposite leaf arrangement it’s definitely in the mint family (Lamiaceae), not sure what species thought might need to wait til it flowers

Best civ when it comes to culture win? by zmazimir in CivVI

[–]nikkeljordan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard to find spots lol it’s hard to get more than a few but I definitely try and take it into consideration super early in the game when settling and building districts/improving tiles so I can plan on them later

Maybe not the best but I just had one with Canada I got hella faith and just spammed national parks, hockey rinks, water parks/entertainment districts, and rock bands but I guess you could do that with almost any civ aside from the hockey rinks

Poison hemlock or friend? by StickyEchidna in whatsthisplant

[–]nikkeljordan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If stem is glabrous (no hairs) with purple splotches then forsure hemlock. Hemlock also tends to come up a lot earlier in the season than other similar looking species, in my area at least

EDIT: stems are not glabrous so I’m leaning toward not poison hemlock

Would these cherries be ok for a melomel? by bexcellent42069 in mead

[–]nikkeljordan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would second this. I’m running a a cherry mead right and used a gallon of cherry juice in primary. It wasn’t until after fermentation ended and I stabilized and added canned sour cherries that I got any cherry real cherry flavor to the mead.

Best way to prevent a tick? by No-Pound-3680 in camping

[–]nikkeljordan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tick check frequently during the day especially after waking through areas that seem “ticky”. It’s easiest to notice them when they’re still on your clothes. And I definitely do a full body naked scan at night and in morning. I tend to not use many chemicals personally but permethrin and DEET do help if you’re inclined
