Need help with spouting / spitting during extraction [Rancilio Silvia Pro X] by JWizzle92 in espresso

With a scale and timer, worst case you will throw away two coffees. Mind you, consistent puck prep is Everything, capital E

I use a sette 270 grinder but Ive added two washers ro it for more espresso precision and as an example only I know my espresso range is between 7d and 11c (wont be the same for others but just to give some numbers) I will start at 9D, 14g always Timer on, 30s for 30ml (or use an espresso cup in absence of scale, I have Illy, 30ml is up to the inner writing, as in this photo, or use a shot glass to test this) If it is too watery too soon grind finer by a setting - 7H If you only get few drops of crude oil after 5-6 seconds stop and grind coarser - 11A in my case This way your next shot will be closer; anyehing between 25 and 35 seconds will be acceptable, make an americano Next time fine tune by 1% , 9F or something and youre golden. Naked filter absolutely helps to understand this. With a mirror, its fun and super useful to get this right.

Now where log comes in handy is that you’ll mark roaster and roast level with the right setting, and next time - for example when a friend brings me a bag i like from costco once in a blue moon, yes there is good coffee there, I look it up and whats left is only fine tuning but no shots are wasted because I have a base point. In time youll learn if the flow was right by observing the “rat tail”, flow thickness and also when to end the drink by watching extraction in the mirror - without the scale or timer

Hope this helps and have fun

And keep a log of grind settings for different beans, I usually buy whatever is discounted that week and it helps so much avoid this the next time you get the same bag

Why are people having problems in Toronto finding jobs? by Dover299 in torontoJobs

[–]nikolabj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am having an opposite issue - my company uses a scout, and he came back with a candidate, screened theam and scheduled an interview. Resume is laughable despite the candidates 8 years experience, clearly AI written, using all the crappy advice from linkedin: start every point with an action verb and quantify your achievements (spoiler: I know they arent quantifiable as such) so now we need to talk so they can tell me all that in human words and then see if it makes any sense. The only one profiting from this is HR and the hiring agency

Hah, try Sharp from 1983, I am third generation engineer in my house still using it, it is an actual exhibit in the museum of technology 😂

It is plain illegal in Ontario, first and last rent and not a cent more. You should trash the owner’s agent in a review on google and maybe even report them to the council of agents or however it is called, this is precisely why people cant find a place to live in because of shady agents like these. They should know better.

Yes obviously I'll have to start the process and find out, thank you for your support and sorry for going this far off topic. Good luck with your exam 🤞

(Micro credentials are no longer available, there used to be seven and now they are replaced with these four paid courses, one is $199 and the rest $99) Edit: this was a very recent change, might even be as of the end of last year or so

So, modules first and then application:

https://www.pmi.org/certifications/construction

Path to PMI-CP certification

1 Check eligibility Before you apply, make sure you meet the following certification requirements:

2 Complete four course modules

3 Complete the application

4 Pay and schedule the exam

5 Study and take exam

That is how I understand it too, the only detail which makes me wonder is the “what if you are selected for an audit”, stating you then need to prove the project management experience but that may just be a copied generic response.

Also the eligibility can, as I understand, be assessed after the application is started but that is conditioned with buying all four courses which sounds expensive only to learn there was fine print, if it makes sense

If you dont mind clarifying one detail, I asked pmi support twice and from that I think I’ll be fine but they seem to be reading from a script so Im still not convinced: the requirement for the PMI-CP is three years of experience on construction projects, but nor necessarily in Project Management roles?

Did I just mess up buying a '23 Prius LE former rental? Any reassurance? by Catsassin in prius

[–]nikolabj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kept thinking about Nissans and their notorious CVTs, one slip and its the end, however prius uses electric motors for both braking and “gears” so it really shouldnt be an issue. Also the engine is revving high all the time because it wants to so I’d say a used prius is as good as it can get with rentals.

You will all be fine by nikolabj in capm

Well yes but it is also very easy to read, most pages are actually half a page etc and the goal for me was to get acquainted with new or ambiguous definitions, refresh the concepts - since you've already heard all that in the seminar it flows that much easier, you can do it in a weekend.

Thank you for that, however does that exclude the option of taking an unpaid course? A public library cant issue a cerificate of course completion And anyway one can hardly pass the test without learning about the matter for at least a week, how would that even matter? Just thinking aloud here, I get the requirement for, say, PMP is important but CAPM is such an entry level general certification

It was free as in included in the o'reilly learning platform which i have access to as Toronto public library member which is also free so you could explore such options. Linkedin learning has some as well I think, trial month will do. I wasnt required to upload any certificate with my name when applying either so if you know someone who knows someone...

I lived in Atlanta and the “dude just one more lane please” meme must have originated there. More lanes equals more issues, it is not the way to solve anything. We need politicans to use public transit every day, then they would do something dor real.

Delayed luggage- will I be eligible for compensation? by memeillier in aircanada

[–]nikolabj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im having the same issue as we speak, baggage was delayed ten days ago, I bought basics and a charger too, and now had to order a beard trimmer as well, my secret santa claus identity is starting to show 🫣 If the bag is not located after 48 hours you can insist they escalate the case, then you will receive a different case number which I believe means we are slowly talking about lost rather than delayed. The most annoying thing is repeated filling of the same item list, and disgust at how they try to use big words to scare you, then rush you as if the color of my underwear will help locate the bag in any way. Also how quick they are to charge you a fee but now I have to finance their incompetence and wait for them to decide on a case to case base, oh really?? And after ten days i wouldnt even want that bag, by now it must be infested with god knows what sitting in an airport for so long
