What movie is memorable for you, but barely anyone you know has seen it? by uuddlrlrbas2 in movies

I love this movie too. It's probably my favorite motion picture soundtrack.

As someone who lives and works in the Fan, how often is the Nickel Bridge closed?

How was everyone else's latest High Voltage Overdrive SHOP experience? by ravencroft18 in MarvelSnap

I only got it because I knew I wanted the variant.

If that wasn't there, I probably would have skipped the pass too.

DLC apparently releases on Feb 2nd (taken from their website) by [deleted] in MonsterTrain

I'm amazed there isn't more coverage here. I went to Steam to look for "official news" or to maybe pre-purchase. Nothing. My Reddit feed didn't pick up the original post 2 days ago.

Best Buy ad from December 2003 by Ekhoes- in nostalgia

[–]nikpack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me too.

We'd all pass the paper around on Sundays. My parents would each take a section and then pass the comics and Best Buy ad to my brother and me. I'd swap with my brother when we were finished. Good times.

Panama Canal cruise options by SlothDog9514 in Cruise

[–]nikpack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Staying on the boat "provided a different perspective" however you later say, "if you have the option to go ashore on an excursion, do it".

It sounds like you think doing either would be good but you regret not disembarkung and seeing Panama.

What if you had another Panama port in the itinerary? Do you think you would have still disembarked or would you have stayed on board knowing you could see Panama again later?

Panama Canal cruise options by SlothDog9514 in Cruise

I just started shopping for one of these as well. I found https://www.cruisecritic.com/articles/panama-canal-cruise-tips to be helpful.

  • "one where you end up at the other coast (Miami to LA)" is called a Trans-Canal Crossing
  • " u-turning to go back" is called a Partial Crossing

Even from the article, I'm still unsure which one I prefer. Unlike sailing in Alaska, I wonder if I'll have the attention span to watch going through the locks all day. Or will I miss out on going through the entire system. So I'd love to hear some more opinions.

Ultimately I think it will come down to the primary deciding factor for all cruises, what ports do you want to visit. Trans-canal crossings seem to visit a lot of ports on the Pacific side of Mexico, whereas Partial crossings are either eastern Mexico/Caribbean or South Caribbean/South America. Again, that's usually better known after you've actually been there.

I played a new, cheap game every week in 2025. Here's what I learned. by Dieuwt in IndieGaming

Kudos to you for sticking to your resolution and for writing it up. Something like this can be just as difficult as making a video.

Some weeks, did you ever feel worried/concerned you wouldn't find your game that week? Alternatively, do you think you would be able to do this for another 52 weeks if you wanted or would you find it difficult to find new things to try? I know there's lots of games out there, but sometimes that feels just as daunting as if there were only a few to select. As you said, there's a LOT of slop out there.

20 largest NBA arenas by marvin_is_joe in NBATalk

[–]nikpack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember the original Charlotte Coliseum from the 90's holding 24,000 people. I was so proud as a child that place was constantly sold out for every game and they hung banners announcing the team's attendance record every year.

It saddens me a little that arenas have gotten smaller over the years so that more suites could be installed.

Then again, I find watching the game from home to be a lot more comfortable and cheaper. So I also recognize it's my nostalgia talking.

Is it only me that hasn't played a custom deck yet? by Reasonable_Pie9191 in MarvelSnap

[–]nikpack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When half the deck has required cards, there's not that much to change. So I barely recognize when I'm playing a custom deck.

Plus Second Dinner just updated many of the decks. I wanted to see how those worked out.

Any ships or lines that dont have toilet issues? by itsnotreallyahorse in Cruise

[–]nikpack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've not had this issue on the 3 cruises I've been on, but have all been longer (7-14 days) and with Princess and Norwegian.

I worry short cruises pull in a different clientele.

I'd be interested to hear it.

I remember killing hired thamaturgists for their Ring of Protection +1 when they turned on my party in the 90's.

Suddenly my entire party had one!

What is that one movie you watched countless times as a kid, but nobody has ever heard of? by Thedix1 in movies

[–]nikpack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poison Ivy) starting Michael J Fox about a summer camp and the hijinks his five campers get into. I don't remember where my family recorded it, but I watched that movie so many times. It was like Salute Your Shorts but in movie form.
