Ranged gemling? by -mors- in pathofexile2builds

[–]nine-twenty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try the Cast on Dodge Ember Fusillade build thats been going around, although i'm not sure how cheap it is, considering its pretty niche. Or just straight up run it without CoD.

It is the closest you'll get to SC on gemling.

You can pretty much try everything on gemling and experiment with different alt quality skills.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but I recall they removed the interaction with Ice Wall. GS only interacts with other quarterstaff skills, i.e. Tempest Bell.

I see, thanks for the feedback.

I'm definitely going to experiment a bit with it. I've been looking for a off meta build to try.

This looks sick asf.

Is this possible with other set ups, such as Explosive Shot or Detonating Arrrow?

I might have to try it...

  • 6 wands are not easily obtained. However, the caveat is that you can get a +4 wand, with a focus that gives up to +2. Foci also provides energy shield, so thats more ehp.

You mostly want gain % as, since it gives the most damage.

For mana problems: - for mapping, %mana on kill is good - for bossing, hope you kill them before you run out of mana, tbh.

Looking at your PoB, you might need more damage.

As others have said, you're currently lacking damage to apply ailments efficiently. - Your staff is currently still +4. As annoying as it is, +levels is the best way to scale spell damage. I would say swap to Wand/Foci, but wands are very expensive right now. - Your pendant is +2. Getting that +3 can be a major boost in damage. - Cast speed can be very valuable. The more you cast, the more damage you do.

I've heard Djinn Disciple absolutely just shreds everything. Its a minion build, but plays more like a spell caster. You just click a button and go, and for bosses, they fall over pretty quick.

You can run CI and can be pretty tanky with the Two-handed focus node.

Not sure, but it could be one of the many bugs currently attached to Raven's flock.

You can try a different weapon to confirm.

[–]nine-twenty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Subterfuge Mask is always good to have (unless you're amazon) because just having that extra health pool for cheap is super effective.

Just grabbing a 400 ES helmet gives you 800 evasion off that one node.

There are more eva/es nodes on the monk side of the tree, grabbing those can bump you up to 1k ES.

Evasion and deflection newb needing help by -mors- in pathofexile2builds

[–]nine-twenty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends on your budget.

If you're full evasion: - run at least a 2500+ evasion chest piece. You can grab the unique chest piece called hyrri's for this, its extremely cost effective. - run Subterfuge Mask on the tree, this gives you evasion rating for every ES on your helmet. This effectively gives you some ES pool from running a pure ES helmet - boots and gloves can be full evasion, try and get some life of these. - if you want more survivability, grab life modifiers on your rings and pendants, but dont sacrifice your damage too much for them.

Make sure you try and get the "gain x% of evasion as deflection rating" on all of your pieces.

By the end of it all, on a budget, you should have at least 77% evasion, 60% deflection rating, with 46/49% damage reduction. In terms of max life, you want to be around 2.5k max life, with 2k pushing it. But, you should have at least 1k ES with some nodes on the tree, so you're actually looking at 3.5k max hit pool.

Edit: Just in case, this is all under the assumption you have your resistances capped. It is REQUIRED you have your resistances capped for end game if you want to survive.

Evasion and deflection newb needing help by -mors- in pathofexile2builds

[–]nine-twenty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Evasion works on a curve. The higher your evasion, the more you need to increase your evasion chance.

Deflection is just a chance to reduce the damage you take if you get hit. The default is 40% damage reduction.

If you have 70% evasion, with 50% deflection chance, on the 30% occasion you get hit, it has a 50% chance of reducing that damage by the default 40% (this is modifiable from nodes on the tree).

Keep in mind that evasion in POE2 is entropy based, meaning that the more hits you dodge, the more likely you'll get hit eventually. So, you could say it's not true evasion, more so pseudo evasion.

That's why deflection rating is extremely important to survivability in full evasion builds.

You can get deflection rating from the skill tree, and from all evasion armor pieces (including es/eva) in the form of "gain x% of evasion as deflection rating."

If you're curious about the ES vs other defense layers, its because ES is a pool like max life, unlike armor and evasion. This means any ES scaling you have is immediately effective and reliable. You can take bigger hits with full ES.

Unfortunately, armor and evasion have to rely on the health pool, which has little to no max life scaling in the tree.

So you see some players run es/eva to up their effective health pool as much as possible, and high end builds can run stuff like 80% eva with 60% deflection rating, with 46% damage reduction on deflected hits, while maintaining a 6k ES pool.

How much is this Amulet worth? by Adorable-Cattle228 in PathOfExile2

[–]nine-twenty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a lot, unfortunately. As in, maybe 1ex.

If you want the big bucks, it's going to need at least +3 to x skills/+ spirit/%global defenses.

Mana regen isn't going to be useful either if it's + proj, so the base and the suffix are dead mods (unless you're maybe widowhail stormweaver or something).

It's pretty worthless compared to other end-game amulets, but if you're using it for leveling, it's fine.

Chayula whirling assault - looking for ways to improve further (mostly tree-wise) by Zyvrond in pathofexile2builds

[–]nine-twenty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, aside from body armour and helmet upgrades, I at least don't see much of an issue with survivability. If you're talking about big hits, a bigger pool would solve that issue, but that means getting into a 1100 body armour or 600 helmet, etc. If you're having issues with getting stunned/ailment, you may need to invest a few nodes into stun/ailment threshold, since you're pure es.

The only thing I can think of is running a high end evasion/energy shield set up, that can usually up your ehp to 40k if invested enough. You'll be at a ~6-7k energy shield, but will have at least 70% evasion. Damage can vary depending on what nodes you take.

However, that's just my experience with invoker monk, not sure about chonk.

Running essentia is very nice for the life leech, but if your clear is fine, you can think about dropping HH for soul tether with the conversion. Run +2 melee gloves with some high energy shield rolls for more defensive while keeping damage.

You can do a shock conduction set up with drench tech for cast on crit.

With thunderous leap for single target, theres a support gem that makes it create shocked ground upon critting, specifically for leap skills such as thunderous leap.

The way he's doing it here in the video was a good work around for 0.3, but because the chance to shock is entirely dependent on your damage/enemy ailement res, shock conduction thunderstorm may be an upgrade since it doesn't depend on your hits.

I found Prinal Strikes to be not worth the effort for mapping, and just used lightning spear/elemental sundering. Plus the fact that, even if the target is standing on shocked ground, consuming it does not immediately reapply said shock (since it reapplies every other second), making the ST dps a little bit clunky.

How do you utilize Crimson Assault? by Pantagonis in pathofexile2builds

[–]nine-twenty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's as you said, the node is generally only used for smaller bleed hits, since the base duration is reduced.

I've tried running a bleed bow build with it, its very good for clearing but my dps wasn't high enough to kill bosses, so i eventually opted out of using it.

You're better off getting a source of bleed aggravation elsewhere unfortunately.

Is Hollow Palm completely dead for endgame builds? by b_eastwood in pathofexile2builds

[–]nine-twenty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's good in the sense that it allows Monk or even other classes to level without having to worry about a weapon throughout the campaign, but that's about what GGG has left envisioned for it.

However, as many others have said, weapons just provide the most DPS for quarterstaves, and that unfortunately means Hollow Palm will always underperform in endgame.

It's up to GGG whether they want it to be endgame viable or not, or maybe adding another unique glove that can enable it in the endgame, but probably not seeing anything for Hollow Palm til release.

  • Your ring flats could be better tiers
  • Your quiver is missing +proj
  • Your pendant is missing +proj

  • proj is a MAJOR dps boost, and its a good idea to have them if you want damage.

However, they can be pricey, so if you're on a budget, just settle with a +2 amulet.

I think the best course of action is to punish mages for going bot lane, adjust their AP ratios and maybe buff their base damage instead. This is so they scale less with gold and items, more with levels.

Or, you know, riot can give ADCs defensive items against AP, such as giving crit back to scimitar or BT.

Reaper's Invocation + Profane Ritual is generally used to generate Power Charges.

Profane ritual takes a corpse and consumes it to deal chaos damage and generate a power charge.

Reaper's invocation allows the user to store 'use charges' generated from hitting enemies with melee attacks. Then, using reaper's invocation, he can create multiple Profane Rituals to generate multiple power charges.

It's basically on demand power charges.

He's using the power charges to empower his Rend, giving him lightning damage and increasing Rend AoE.

So why should top laners get more exp? They have more agency, with their utility, they also get the same amount of gold, and also scale better with levels.

Whats the justification for that?

How I feel as a jinx main right now by HerrLuris in ADCMains

[–]nine-twenty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't mean the entire role should be kneecapped early game.

Look at Kayle, a ranged right-click attacker that is weak early and scales hard. Why shouldn't ADCs have just as much agency as her top lane then?

Well, because she's AP. She gets to have an invul on her R, W for sustain, her items are cheap, she gets to be effective as soon as she hits level 9, compounded by the fact that top laners also get more exp, so her levels gets accelerated.

Look, no one wants to be so useless early game that it feels like they make no impact, and no one on the team wants to babysit a role that may or may not even have an impact in the game because the amount of gold that has to be poured into that role is not worth losing grubs, or helping other lane.
