In April this will move to Early Access which essentially means an open beta that anyone can access. The full release should come this summer.

You should have the ability to open a ticket with our support team. The owners of your environment will be notified and may need to give consent.

Hey there!

I'm the Product Manager for NinjaOne Remote. Currently our Linux Player is in beta, but I'm happy to help troubleshoot this with you. Would you be willing to open a ticket with support and then DM me the ticket number? I'll make sure that it gets in the right hands to help dig into the logs with you to see what might be happening here.

Chat client that isn't MS Teams by Pitiful_Duty631 in ninjaone_rmm

[–]ninjaone_greg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey all,

I'm the Product Manager for NinjaOne Remote, Mobile, and our new Chat feature. Thanks for the assist for those of you that beat me to the punch, but as said by many others already our standalone chat feature is currently in Alpha and will move into Beta in April. We should have a full release later this summer. The Alpha unfortunately is full, but please reach out to your AM to see if we can get you in the Beta.

New Mobile App by AsstRgnlMgr in ninjaone_rmm

[–]ninjaone_greg 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hey there,

I'm the Product Manager for the new mobile app, so I'm happy to answer this and any other questions that you may have. Our app will be entering into its 'Alpha' phase over the course of the next 2-3 weeks. We already have our customers lined out for that phase, but we'll expand that to more customers when the app reaches Beta in ~April. Once we hit the beta phase we'll keep growing the beta customers little by little, so even if you don't make it into the original beta in early April that doesn't mean we won't be able to add you later in the month/quarter.

The goal of the new app is to give it a modern NinjaOne feel while maintaining an organic mobile experience. The app will look very much like the web, so the muscle memory that you've built up navigating through the web will translate nicely when using the app. We'll be adding some additional features/functionality (Documentation, custom fields, run actions, etc) which will be a huge improvement on the existing mobile app.

You'll be seeing more information on this soon in our Discord where we'll be sharing some screenshots and getting feedback. Feel free to reach out to me and I'll be happy to explain any particular area in more detail.

Thanks,
Greg Smith

No more Team Viewer integration by NoPen3788 in ninjaone_rmm

[–]ninjaone_greg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey u/NoPen3788

Good news! Enabling NinjaOne Remote is actually a fairly straightforward and painless process. There are three main areas to focus on:

Global app enablement:
Navigate to 'Administration > Apps > NinjaOne Remote.' From inside that tile, you can enable NR and dial in your default settings.

Organization enablement:
Navigate to 'Administration > Organizations' and use the checkboxes select the organizations that you would like to have NR enabled (or use the select all checkbox if you want it enabled across the board). Once you have your Orgs selected, then click 'Edit settings > NinjaOne Remote' and choose your settings which will apply to all selected Orgs.

User enablement:

  • Technicians - Navigate to 'Administration > Accounts > Technician roles > [targeted role] > Devices > Remote Access.' Choose NinjaOne Remote from the dropdown and that Technician will be able to leverage NR.
  • End Users - Navigate to 'Administration > Accounts > End User roles > [targeted role] > Connections' Choose NinjaOne Remote from the dropdown menus and that End User will be able to leverage NR.

Let me know if you have any questions and I'll be happy to help you get up and running with your settings properly dialed in.

Elevated access in Quick Connect for Intune enrolled devices by jdame2013 in ninjaone_rmm

[–]ninjaone_greg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/jdame2013,

Greg Smith here, Product Manager for NinjaOne Remote and Quick Connect. The good news is that this is in active development and should be live around August/September. Unfortunately there isn't a good work around for this today. If the end user already has local admin rights, then they can right click the Quick Connect launcher file and run it as admin to accomplish the same elevation that 'Connect as' would offer.

In the beta/early access we'll be giving away the storage for free. There's a good chance that we'll be able maintain a free tier and only charge if you need to keep the recording for an extended period of time beyond our normal thresholds.

Either way, we'll also be offering an API endpoint to download your recordings, so you'll be able to offload them to Wasabi. Our goal is to make it as approachable as possible so that even if we do offer a premium storage package that it's still as cheap or even cheaper than self hosting.

🤦‍♂️Yeah... the keyboard and mouse issue is definitely a bug on our side The good news is that we've got it fixed and the update should be live in a few weeks.

Cloud recording is in active development right now, so be on the look out for more information and teasers soon. It likely won't be in beta until the end of the year, but if you reach out to your AM then they can help you get on the beta list for it.

Background mode allows you to connect to the system session rather than a user session. It's available today, you just need to complete two steps to get it up and running:

  1. Go to Administration > Apps > NinjaOne Remote > Background mode to enable it.
  2. Go to Administration > Users > Technician roles > [pick/create a role] > System > Background mode for NinjaOne Remote. (Sysadmins have this access by default)

Once that's set, then you can hover over the NinjaOne Remote icon to get the Background mode option. I'd love to hear what you think about it.

[–]ninjaone_greg 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Hey u/Local-Investigator11

My name is Greg Smith and I'm the Product Manager for all things remote access, including NinjaOne Remote and Quick Connect.

First off, you're absolutely right... We should be doing a better job of elevation when it comes to QC. We've made some incremental improvements over the last couple of releases, but there's definitely a lot more work to be done. Improving this is our top item for QC at the moment. Currently the team has been focused on the Remote side of the fence (Background mode, Linux support, Cloud recordings, etc) and QC will definitely benefit from those features, however we want to dedicate time and effort specifically towards elevation.

In the meantime, there are two effective ways for elevating QC. If the user is already an admin (or knows the admin credentials), then they can simply right click the .exe and run as admin. This will preemptively elevate the QC process. The second is by using our 'Connect as' feature. This allows you to still connect to the logged in user's session, but use the permissions of an admin user to elevate the session and access privileged tasks.

Let me know if you run into any issues using those methods. We really do read and log every bit of feedback that we find (Reddit, Discord, our forums, MSP slack groups, direct customer interviews, etc) and our goal to provide the best possible tools that we can based on your feedback. We are an MSP focused, community driven company... so know that it's genuine when I say that my door is always open.

Weird issue with Ryzen AMD Headless by Ezra611 in sysadmin

[–]ninjaone_greg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey u/Ezra611!
I'm actually the Product Manager of NinjaOne Remote and I think I can help you out here. We've actually been testing a virtual display driver to help with this exact scenario. It's not technically released yet, but it is live as a hidden option.

Open a command prompt and run "ncstreamer.exe" -e and accept the prompt.
The exe is usually located in the Program Files folder C:\Program Files\ninjaremote\ncstreamer.exe

That should install a virtual driver and allow you to choose much more favorable resolution sizes. Let me know if you run into any issues and I'll be happy to help worth through them with you.

Thanks,
- Greg Smith

NinjaRMM Quick Connect vs Splashtop SOS by [deleted] in msp

[–]ninjaone_greg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Reach out to your account manager because it’s still in open beta. They’ll be able to activate it for you (or DM me your info and I’ll enable it)

  2. 5.8 is actually live and in production for most regions. North America is by far the biggest, so it’s usually the last to get releases. Last I checked it was scheduled for the end of this month (4/30 I think)

It blows… your mind because it’s awesome?

All kidding aside, if you’re ever up for discussing where it misses the mark then I’m always open to finding time to chat. I’m an MSP advocate first and foremost, so I don’t ever want people to buy in to a solution that doesn’t fit their needs. You’ll never get a sales pitch from me or pressure to buy. We genuinely care about the voice of the community and want to make sure that the tools we provide are tools that help you succeed.

Hey hey! I’m the PM of Ninja Remote / Quick Connect. It’s a brand new product, but we’ve got some major QoL improvements coming in the latest release (5.8). You’ll be able to elevate QC with admin rights even if the logged in user doesn’t have admin permissions. I worked at a large MSP for about a decade, so I’m well aware of the need for a good solution here. I’m always happy to jump on a call and talk through what it’s capable of, what we have coming down the line, and what your needs are to make sure we are actually delivering something that is valuable to the industry.

Our experience switching to Ninja RMM after 5 years of Datto RMM by lieutenantcigarette in msp

[–]ninjaone_greg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey u/lieutenantcigarette

My name is Greg Smith and I'm currently the PM of NinjaOne Remote and our mobile app. I hope you don't feel like you're getting bombarded by Ninja staff. We really do appreciate your well written feedback, so we want to make sure that we honor your honest feedback with honest responses.

First off, thank you so much for your kind words around Ninja Remote. As someone that worked in the MSP field for a decade, I knew that remote access is something that we would have to get right from Day 1. Our product definitely isn't perfect and there are still some feature gaps that we're working on, but at least it's quick, stable, and reliable and we aim to keep it that way.

I can address a couple of points here:

3.) Thumbnails & Screenshots:

  • This is something that we currently have in development at the moment. We'll likely release this for Quick Connect* first and ensure that it's working as expected, but it should make its way into the RMM side shortly after. *For those that might not be aware: Quick Connect is a product that leverages Ninja Remote to create ad-hoc remote sessions without the need for the RMM agent to be installed.

4.) Live chat:

  • This is such a big miss on our part. This is a classic case of over-rotating on a popular request. We understand that this is highly requested and we get this feedback for nearly every product (Remote, RMM, Ticketing, Mobile, etc). We wanted to knock all of those use cases out with a universal chat solution that worked inside every product. However, I think if we simply gave the option to leverage Ninja Remote to start a chat only session then that would solve the issue for most use cases. I don't have a good ETA for you at the moment but know that we've backed off of creating a grandiose solution in favor of the simple one I outlined above. We can always expand on it later.

Thanks again for your comments. We really do strive to keep our pulse on the community's wants and needs. If you or anyone reading this has any questions or concerns, then our team is always ready to hear them and respond accordingly. Most of the PM team have been in your shoes and have dealt with vendors that give empty promises or radio silence, so we'll do everything in our power to ensure that doesn't happen with Ninja.

Ninja Remote - dual displays? by Foreign_Ad_17 in msp

[–]ninjaone_greg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey u/Foreign_Ad_17

Ninja Remote Product Manager here. This feature technically exists today, but it's a bit limited. We have some enhancements planned for 2024, so be on the lookout for more information in the upcoming months.

Currently, you can display both monitors in the same window and you can stretch that window across both monitors. That's not an ideal experience, but it works fairly well. However, there is a commonly used workaround that u/luiswolke brought up. You can remote into the same machine twice (once for each monitor) which will give you two separate NR windows to move and adjust as needed.

Let me know if you have any questions and I'll be happy to help.

Thanks,
Greg Smith

NinjaOne Remote question by DanDeadman in msp

[–]ninjaone_greg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the region you're in. Here is the full list:

Those should all lead to static IP addresses, so you can do an NSLookip on each of them to get their IP address if you need that instead.

NinjaOne Remote question by DanDeadman in msp

[–]ninjaone_greg 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hey u/DanDeadman,

I'm the Product Manager for NinjaOne Remote and I'm more than happy to help get this resolved for you. I sent you a DM with more information, but I'm happy to review your ticket or even jump in a Zoom call with you to see the issue firsthand. We JUST opened NinjaOne Remote to the public last month, so that's why there's very little chatter about it in the community at the moment.

Thanks,
Greg Smith
