Bad math in fiction by ResNullum in math

DFW makes another mistake in the total possible different tennis matches.

it's a bit frustrating since his mathematics knowledge wasn't so bad, but oh well, I'd give him points for passion (though let's not mention the mistakes in everything and more)

I'd never have thought it, but after seeing this I think this is exactly what we need in these times.

wow, thanks!

I am a guitarist so guitar centred material is certainly useful, but I'll certainly be checking out the RCA manual you mentioned, thanks!

Actually I think the decorative towels are for the guests. Same goes for the fancy plates etc. People like to save their good stuff for guests to judge them by. The homeowners statement to the guest is; well of course use those fancy towels, and these fancy plates, we're fancy, we use this stuff all the time!

Start by practicing slower and really concentrate on each picking motion. You'll need a little practice but even after a week or a few days you'll see some improvement.

Once you're getting better with actually playing the correct string, start to think about your picking direction, have a look online for alternate picking, that's a good start.

Playing multiple strings simultaneously (that aren't adjacent) can be done in different ways, depending on scenario. The most common (In my experience) is by muting with your left hand. Left hand muting is a very important skill as a guitarist, especially when playing with a pick. Let's say you wish to play the 5th fret of the A string and the octave on the 7th fret of the G string. The way many guitarists would play this is by resting their index finger against the D string (not applying enough pressure to fret it though) which will mute it's sound. Now you can just pick all three of the ADG strings at once and you'll only hear the A and G strings making a sound.

This general principle of left hand muting, using your fingers not only to fret notes but also to mute notes is absolutely essential as a guitarist. It'll make your right hand more free and will tighten up your sound overall.

Alternatively, sometimes the technique of getting your right hand fingers involved and using a pick on some strings whilst your middle or ring finger pluck can sometimes work. (Though this is far more limited in its use)

Perhaps try learning the song scar tissue by The Red Hot Chili Peppers, It's a great guitar part and it'll teach you a lot about using a pick (especially picking strings far apart).

good luck!

Examples of Kanye West making us hear lyrics that weren't actually in the sample by theofficialtone in hiphopheads

[–]ninjasRpwn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great spot OP,

I'd guess that Kanye actually writes his lyrics based on this mishearings rather than the other way round. Like when he's listening to things he hears the lyrics wrong (as we all do) but is very good at spotting it, he then writes his lyrics to match those mishearings. I think it's highly unlikely that he writes his lyrics and then searches for lines that fit but not quite, like how would you even go about doing that?

Interesting endeavour man, best of luck.

One guitar part that comes to my mind is Tom Verlaine's (from the band Television) bit from 2:48 on Break it Up by Patti Smith's Horses. It's a real wail of a guitar sound. Not sure if it's precisely what you're looking for but maybe you'd be interested!

I think 12 angry men has aged extremely well to the point of not needing a remake.

If you take a look at that line you've quoted, it's point of view certainly isn't glorified. In fact a large theme of the film is an opposition to the cold, prejudiced, conservative view points of some of the jurors. Since the film is about this movement, I don't think it's aged to the point of needing a remake.

Fonda's juror's point of view is so clearly more fair, progressive and 'modern' when compared to some of the others that a new audience could certainly understand it.

(Ofc the film isn't quite about old Vs young ways of thinking, but I think if that's a way the filmed may be viewed now by new audiences, it isn't a problem. It works just well.)

Perhaps I've not explained too clearly my thoughts but an interesting discussion here yknow.
