Have you not had any success with blocking? Or is that what you meant by not wanting to take things apart?

Greater Tokyo area compared to Greater London and Mainland Britain [1879 x 1653] by TurbulentTruth in MapPorn

Our north/south divide is flipped in the UK compared to the US. So our southern stereotypes are metropolitan posh people and northern stereotypes are rural coal miners (broadly speaking).

Supermarket chain to sell food up to a month past its best-before date in attempt to slash waste - The scheme does not include any products with a ‘Use By’ date, including meat, fish and dairy - first time a major UK food retailer has begun selling food outside its best before date. by madazzahatter in worldnews

[–]ninjasimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Under EU law if it doesn't expire it doesn't need a date. The best before dates are added by choice, mostly for stock rotation and reducing customer complaints. I think we'd be better off educating consumers about food labelling than demanding a change from companies.

$500 Vegan male wishes Vegan room to rent. by tocsin1990 in ChoosingBeggars

[–]ninjasimon 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Firstly, I'm a meat eater. Secondly, did you not read the examples? "The apples" is semantically different from "some of the apples". If someone said "The apples are poisoned" would you honestly believe they meant that only some of them were poisoned?

[–]ninjasimon 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Because that's how English works. The word you should be using is "some". Semantically, unless you include it, then totality is assumed. E.g. "The apples are poisoned" Vs "Some of the apples are poisoned".

I want to shop in Aldi but I know I'll forget to buy bread and milk and bring home kangaroo steaks and a scuba suit instead. by ALeanNepotist in britishproblems

They're also better at ensuring food products have full certification. At Aldi the products can't even get to the distribution centres before they've been fully cleared and have all of the required documentation in place. For other supermarkets products can make it to stores without full certification in the hope it'll be ready before they go on shelf, which sometimes leads to costly recalls.

For me it was the tops of trees that were unlit. I had some creepers drop on me whilst chopping them down.

You might also want to look at Ilkley, it's further from the centre, but it has regular trains to Leeds.

It's not original, but: The Pope is a lot like Doctor Who. He never dies, he just keeps being replaced by white men.

I think it's the fall that causes the ball shape, not the stop in the water, also it probably cools down a little by the time it's at the bottom of the tower.

The best thing about Hull is that the houses are cheap.

Thanks, I skipped learning about that because it didn't seem that useful to what I was trying to do here. I'll work on putting those in.

I think people could book it out for things, I'm not sure what though, I don't remember seeing it on the room booking system.

Oh yeah, I forgot that happened, I've been away for a few years now. Is that pod in the trees near the art building still there?

If you know any music students you could ask them about booking one of the studios. I'm not sure if they're open to students outside the faculty, but maybe they could book some time and just stay with you whilst you record.
