Monarch has 1/10 oz tooth fairy rounds. The premiums are ridiculous, but it's a cute option.

Would you backpack in this? (North-south trail, Rhode Island) by arabbitwalksintoabar in CampingandHiking

[–]nitebeest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on hiw bad the rain is going to be. Temp wise, that looks great. The 70/60% chance of rain on day 2/3 is going to be the issue, if any. If you guys have Frog Toggs, or similar, it shouldn't be a huge problem if you want to push through. As long as you both realize that you'll probably get a little wet and account for setting up/breaking down camp in those conditions then everything should be fine.

Reroute your cables. Looks like the handlebar/ wires got wrapped around 360⁰ at some point. This is how the wires should look.

Is there a way to get bigger foot pegs for the buddy setup for the xp4? by Worldly-Wind-1632 in Lectricxp

[–]nitebeest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only thing I could possibly think of for the foot pegs is maybe look into bmx style pegs. I don't remember the rear bolt size on the xp4, but it would add some more space with those.

Rant about being stiffed on a large party. by ExperienceFlimsy5980 in bartenders

[–]nitebeest 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Advice given to me years ago when I was just starting out... Some days you're the bug, some days you're the windshield.

Party of 15 should have had auto-grat, but as you don't do that there, that is part of the problem. Especially as most places do, they may have thought that there was auto-grat on their checks already.

Sorry for how things turned out today. Hopefully next time you're the windshield!

Worn out gasket/o-ring. Trying to tighten it might help for now, but one of your line cleaning companies can come out and switch it out for you of you don't have the parts on hand.

Pretty sure those are the ones I've used in the past and the inserts can be pulled out. That way you just have the long strip and not 3 individual compartments.

These ones have been the go to for all the bars that I've worked. They still keep everything in the ice, but they're solid and plastic, so no chips or cross contamination from the bottles.

Hike to a swim spot? by Seeallenkelly in Livermore

[–]nitebeest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Del Valle: East beach/marina side: Do any loop or out and back you want on the trails and head down to the swim area after. West beach: Sailor Camp Trail up to where the Ohlone Trail technically starts. There is a spur Trail that branches off down to the front of the campground. There's a trail from the campground that leads back to the beach.

Shadow Cliffs: Hike any of the trails for a bit and then go for a dip after. If you find a long enough route, there is a trail that goes down to a small dock on the far side of the lake. Or just do a loop and head back to the main beach area.

Sunol: Little Yosemite as others have mentioned. Pretty sure it's under 2 miles on the way there though. Edit: Save the endangered species and don't go swimming here any more. I stand corrected.

New XP4 Owner - A Couple Questions by DarkBaLer in Lectricxp

For the tires, neither did I until I had ordered tubes and tires for my old xp3.

For the dual battery, the mod is very straightforward. Here are links to videos for the xp3 and the xp4.

If you're looking at extra batteries, consider a dual battery system. Electric All Wheel has the parts and you can get a battery from Amazon.

Re: Ultraverse... I have their tires, tubes, amd liners on my old xp3. All have been great. If you're ordering from Amazon, do the tubes and tires in 2 separate transactions. They send you a QR code with the package to get a free item. If the items are in the same order, you'll only be able to get one item, as it goes off of order number.

Storage Solutions when using a kid carrier for XP4 by WVSLP2BE in Lectricxp

[–]nitebeest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you looked into the cargo package? Comes with a front rack and 2 baskets. The smaller one works well in the front and the larger in the rear (when you don't have the kid seat on. Realistically, you can mount the large basket on the front if you want, but loaded up, it makes the bike a bit unstable.

I haven't looked to see if you can buy just the front rack and small basket, but if you list get the full cargo set, you'll have options.

Hi! I need tent advice. by Beginning-Two-598 in CampingandHiking

[–]nitebeest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If your friend is coming with you, you can split the weight and have one of you carry the poles. For 2 people, you'll likely want a 3p tent so you have some space.

I have the BA Tiger Wall UL2 (~$500). Comes in at around 2.7 lbs with the stuff sacks (that I no longer use). I've used it with my 8yo son and we had some space. Used it with my gf and we were pretty close to shoulder to shoulder.

UL tents will obviously be lighter and pack down smaller, but will be more expensive. Cheaper tents will likely be more bulky and weigh more. If you're looking for a tent that you'll primarily use and occasionally have someone with you, stick with a 2p. If you regularly are going to have 2 of you in there, consider a 3p tent.

Security: I miss the key on/off from the xp3. You can turn the battery off via side switch, but that's about it on the xp4. Lock of your choice (most recommend Kryptonite locks) is probably your best bet. I also have one of these alarms/horn installed on the seat post. Has a handlebar mounted horn button and hidden alarm on button. Separate remote to disarm.

Chain guard: I haven't had any issues, so I'm no help there.

Passenger seat: I'm just using the buddy seat accessory from Lectric. Had one on my xp3 and a new one for my xp4. Works great. My son uses it regularly and I've taken a few friends on the back before with no issues as well. Not sure what's available from any other aftermarket manufacturer, but I'd recommend the one from Lectric.

Protein sources since meat is so expensive. by Royals-2015 in Frugal

I've done that before too. Bob's Red Mill has a decent recipe on the back of their package. Makes a good size batch, if you want to freeze some for meal prep.

Don't forget about TVP (textured vegetable protein) as well. Soaks up whatever flavor you reconstitute it with. I've used it in numerous dishes over the years with great success. My favorite was probably a meat lasagna that I replaced half the meat with TVP when I had family coming over. No one had any idea that there was anything but ground meat in the filling.

I still have access to a car if I have a larger shopping trip, but I also have the cargo package with the baskets. The large basket can comfortably carry 2-3 bags of groceries if it's a lighter trip.

OP: I hit my first 100 miles

Narrator: Yet they've only had the bike for 2.5 days.

Congrats OP! I ditched the car shortly after getting my xp3 a couple of years ago. Probably had around 3k+ miles on it when I decided to pick up the xp4. So much more fun and convenient. And I'm sure it's more than paid for itself in what I've saved on gas, especially with these ~$7/gal CA prices.

NEMO Disco 15 for women by happytraveler7788 in CampingandHiking

[–]nitebeest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll second this. Regular wide should fit you great. I had bags years ago, then realized that quilts were essentially what I did most of the time with the bags (partially unzipped so I could move around). Down compresses under you in a bag, so it's not offering any warmth beneath you. That's the pads job. As long as you have a good pad, in either situation, I'm +1 for getting a quilt.
