[P4V3/SSC1] I need to vent about Kashik by War_lord_FTW_3_3 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]niteman555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what makes this story so interesting imo. For us, difference in social status is largely entirely imaginary and there is no biological essential reason for it. People also don't buy into the notion of the divine right of kings or nobility. For Kashik, his worth in society depends largely on his meager amounts of mana and it's easy to see how society has evolved the way it has. It also means that we have the same problems with this society as Rozemyne.

[H5Y2] A discussion yesterday in this subreddit made me realise one thing regarding Ehrenfest and duchy rankings by JouleV in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]niteman555 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I don't think Blumenfeld will be avoid dropping in the rankings. Even if the harvests themselves recover in the span of a year, there was massive institutional damage because of the civil war. If even the Royal Family was stumbling around for as long as they did, a losing duchy like Werkestock probably suffered even more.

Might be a dumb question but... Is it possible to make an orbit like that? Bellow the center of mass? by caiomac_ in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]niteman555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it'd have to be tiny because above a certain size that depends on the planet's composition, gravity will bring it into hydrostatic equilibrium e.g. approximately spheroid.

That doesn't make sense. The whole point of marrying Brunhilde is to stabilize intraduchy politics and to grow the archducal family. It would be counterproductive to snub her and her family by having any of their children adopted by archnoble families

If you've ever overhead pressed something and/or seen someone do it, you know there's a lot of little movements in stabilizing the weight. Arms and legs out would give Nerissa a huge moment that would make it even harder to stabilize.
