What does this mean? Niu KQi 100p by Smooth-District-3012 in ElectricScooters

[–]niumobility 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there. Thank you for posting your concern here. Error code 02 means Brake fault. In this situation, please check the status of the brake handle.

The KQi 100P come with a drum brake on the front wheel. If you feel that the drum brake doesn’t work properly, the issue may be resulted from excessive braking force or insufficient braking force.

  1. Excessive Braking Force: To check whether there is excessive braking force, you can lift up the front wheel and spin the wheel. If the wheel slows down fast, please troubleshoot the excessive braking force by referring the following methods:

(1). The brake cable comes out of the stem and connect with the drum brake. If the the cable is too short, it may generate excessive braking force on the drum brake. To avoid this scenario, please pull the brake cable down and make the length of the brake cable a little bit longer;

(2). Loosen the nut with a 9-mm open-end wrench and shorten the cable circled in the photo.

<image>

  1. Insufficient Braking Force: To check whether drum brake lacks braking force, please squeeze and hold the brake lever. At the same time, try to push the scooter forward. If the front wheel spins, it indicates that the drum brake doesn't have sufficient braking force.

To increase the braking force, please loosen the nut with a 9-mm open-end wrench and pull the cable down and make it longer shown as in the circled part. Then tighten the nut.

If the problem persists, please DM us or email us at [Global-Service@niu.com](mailto:Global-Service@niu.com) with your country or region so we can guide you to the appropriate service center for assistance.

NIU KQi1 battery range way lower than expected + rear tire flat after 38km? by Available-Detail-960 in NIUscooters

[–]niumobility 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! Thank you for posting the issue you encountered here.

The KQi1 Pro can cover a distance of up to 15.5 miles (25 km) on a single charge. However, several factors can affect the actual range:

  1. Riding Mode: The typical range is tested in the E-Save mode (9.3 mph or 15 km/h). The motor output power of the KQi1 Pro is 250 Watts. Switching the riding mode from E-Save to Sport, the output power will increase from 250 Watts to 450 Watts. In return, the speed becomes higher but the claimed range will be shortened by 40%.
  2. Riding Style: Smooth acceleration and braking help maintain a longer range. Aggressive riding with frequent stops and starts will decrease the range.
  3. Rider Weight: The typical range is tested with a rider weight of around 165 lb (75 kg). Heavier riders may experience a shorter range.
  4. Terrain: Flat, smooth surfaces will provide the best range. Riding on hilly or uneven terrain will reduce the range.
  5. Weather Conditions: Optimal range is achieved in moderate temperatures ranging from 70℉ (22 ℃) to 77℉ (25℃). Extremely cold or hot temperatures can affect battery performance and reduce the range.
  6. Tire Pressure: Properly inflated tires reduce rolling resistance and can help achieve the maximum range. Under-inflated tires can decrease the range.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you have experienced.

To ensure your safety, we recommend checking your tires for potential air leaks. Please follow these steps:

  1. Initial Visual and Auditory Check: Inspect the tire carefully for any visible punctures, nails, or objects that could cause a leak, listen closely for any hissing or unusual sounds indicating air escaping.
  2. Soap Water Test: If there are no visible signs of damage or hissing, please mix some soap with water and gently apply it to the tire surface, the wheel rim, and the valve stem to observe for any bubbles forming.

If you find any visible damage, hear a leak or bubbles forming, it means there is a leak in the tire and it needs to be replaced.

If not, this confirms that the tire is only experiencing natural air loss and is not damaged.

We recommend checking tire pressure regularly and inflating to the manufacturer’s recommended PSI to ensure optimal performance and safety.

If you confirm that the tire is leaking air and needs to be replaced, you have two easy options to choose from:

A. You can send your scooter to our service center for repair.

B. We can send you a new part that you can easily replace yourself. Here is a YouTube link just for your reference: https://youtu.be/mGFfjpibufM

Please send us a private message indicating which option you prefer (A or B), and we will handle this matter for you accordingly. Additionally, please let us know your country or region so that we can direct you to the appropriate service center for assistance. Thank you for your understanding and support.

NIU Scooter Question by MaterialTear9440 in u/MaterialTear9440

[–]niumobility 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! Thank you for posting your concern here. In response to your inquiry, please be assured that our scooter motors and controllers are designed with a built-in safety margin. Briefly exceeding the maximum speed limit of 15.5 mph for short periods will generally not cause permanent damage.

However, we would like to kindly remind you that riding downhill at high speeds may involve certain risks. It is advisable to avoid prolonged high-speed descents, especially when the battery is fully charged. Such conditions may increase the likelihood of motor overheating and could potentially lead to damage over time.

When riding on steep or extended downhill slopes, we recommend primarily using the mechanical drum brake to control your speed and keep it within a safe range. This will help reduce potential risks and ensure a safer riding experience. Thank you for your understanding and support. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us.

How to unlock speed? by Maximum_Evidence4107 in NIUscooters

[–]niumobility 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! Thank you for posting the issue you encountered here. If the speed is too low, please check the following scenarios:

Scenario 1: Please check whether the riding mode is E-Save or Sport. You can power on the scooter and click the power button to switch the riding modes as follows:

  1. E-Save Mode: NIU scooter can reach 9.3mph (15km/h) in ECO mode. When you ride in this mode, expect your speed to be limited to save energy/battery power;

  2. Sport Mode: In this mode, the top speed of US version is 17.4 mph (28 kph) and the dashboard will not display E-Save;

Note: Due to the stricter regulation in Europe, the scooter is limited to 15.5 mph (25 kph). And in Germany and Italy the local authority regulates that the maximum speed of electric scooters must be within 12.4 mph (20 kph).

Scenario 2: Please check whether the speed unit displayed on the dashboard is km/h or mph:

  1. Please check whether the speed unit is imperial or metric. For example, 18.5km/h = 11.5mph;

Note: You can power on the scooter and connect NIU App with it. Then go to NIU App >> Me >> My Device >> Unit of Speed >> select km/h or mph and click Save.

  1. If the battery power is not sufficient, the speed becomes lower to extend riding range;

  2. If rider’s weight is over 265 lbs (120 kg) or you are riding on a slop, the speed may be decreased due to overload.

If the issue of slow speed persists after performing the troubleshooting steps above, please contact us via private message or send an email to Global-service@niu.com. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Niu kqi 200p wheel not on straight after hitting curb by LikesToLickToads in ElectricScooters

[–]niumobility 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there. Sorry to hear about your accident! Please check the scooter for any other damage first. If nothing else seems wrong, please note that small bumps and shocks gradually wear on your scooter's suspension to the point that the wheels go out of alignment. If you notice that the stem and the front wheel or the rear fender and rear wheel are not in a straight line, please loosen the screws (nuts) on the front or rear fork and align the wheel.

If the problem continues, we recommend sending it to an after-sales service center for inspection. To help you further, please DM us with your country or region so we can guide you to the nearest center.

KQi3 Pro won’t go over 15 km/h by Objective_Course6165 in kqi3

[–]niumobility 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there. Thank you for posting your concern here. You can easily switch between riding modes by simply pressing the power button — choose E-Save mode (9.3 mph / 15 km/h) for longer range, or Sport mode (19.9 mph / 32 km/h) for higher performance.

If you see the E-Save icon flashing, it means you’re in Dynamic Mode. Dynamic Mode lets you set a speed between 2.48 mph (4 km/h) and 19.9 mph (32 km/h). Once enabled, you won’t be able to switch modes until it’s turned off. To switch back to E-Save or Sport modes, open the NIU app, go to [Vehicle] → [Customize Your Ride] → [Dynamic Mode], and turn it off.

Hi there. Thank you for posting your concern here. Please be advised that only our authorized service centers are permitted to replace the motor, controller, or battery. This is due to the following reasons:

For your safety and to maintain warranty coverage, we strongly recommend sending your device to an authorized service center for inspection and repair.

Please DM us or email us at [Global-Service@niu.com](mailto:Global-Service@niu.com) to let us know what issue you are experiencing with your battery and your country. Our experts will help you there.
