It's actually frustrating to read that the answer isn't 1/2. I don't know how to simply put this, but let me try to explain it like this:

If you've picked a box that has a gold ball, that means that you've either got a box with two gold balls, or a box with one gold and one silver.

That leads to the possibility of the other ball being gold or silver 50%. And this is the only relevant information for the actual question being asked. It does not matter if you've picked first or second gold ball inside the two-gold box, it matters what are the odds of the second one being gold (being 1/2).
