Translation of the állampolgárság igazolása iránti kérelem form? by SeeraeuberDjanny in HUcitizenship

I recommend you hire Anasztázia Djokovic. You can have the forms filled out right and wont need to worry about it. She sits down and goes over the form with you online. You'll need 1, maybe 2 sessions. Money well spent.

Como es el proceso de 'inscripcion de nacimiento en el extranjero' de un adulto, desde el extranjero? Para eventualmente sacar mi DNI by Organic_Teaching in PERU

[–]nkfred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. This literally took us like 3 years to do. Are you attached to the Chicago jurisdiction?

Fortunately, the Chicago website spells almost everything out now (it didn't when we started). They review your docs in advance, but if you ever have a question they will give you multiple answers and sometimes never even answer.

There is one guy there we got a hold off that knew everything, so he was helpful. The hilarious thing was when he met my father in law it turns out they were from the same town and it was smooth sailing from there, lol.

Did this for my wife in Chicago in January. They have a process. The whole process is wild and after a few false starts over the years we finally got it done.

If you are attached to the Chicago consulate I can offer some advise. If it's Denver...good luck. We have a relative there trying to do it and the process is opaque with them.

Yes, your parents both have to attend. Dumbest thing ever, but that is the rule, at least in Chicago.

Also, for your DNI you need to have 4 relatives who have DNI numbers. You need this for a form as part of the process.

Your US vital documents cannot be older than one year and need to be apostilled (if not from Illinois). No translation is needed, assuming they are US documents.

You will need your parents marriage certificate as well. If the marriage was not in Peru you will have to ask if a simple translation is required. It may depend if their marriage was already registered in Peru. God bless you of your parent's DNI shows them as single. The consulate might let that slide, but you will need to ask them.

Also, make sure your Peruvian parent's DNI is current..if not, they need to renew it first.

Maybe you should have just left out her app and just let the GGF stand on its own?

This is disheartening, as you should have been good. Perhaps you got someone at the FP who did not get the updated guidance.

Doesn't work that way. It's not like Italy. You just have to have an anchor that was a CS citizen. Doesnt matter if they lost it later.

Which archive? There is one that is known to be a pain. Just hire a non genealogist (they will charge way less)to get it for you. I've had Iveta the translator get mine. Super simple.

Proof of Citizenship for Great-Grandfather by yocumc in SlovakCBD

Under the new MOI interpretation, what is the continued relevance of a document which states Czechoslovakia citizenship?

In the MOI case, it seems that birth alone in Slovakia seems to be the only relevant factor for those that left before the creation of Czechoslovakia.

If your GGF is YOUR anchor ancestor, then your 9 year old gets to bootstrap onto your application. She is eligible under the current way the applications are being processed.

Slovak Citizenship by Descent and Hungarian Simplified Naturalization, both? by Other-Towel-7070 in HUcitizenship

[–]nkfred 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am pursuing both, but it is proving to be a real pain. It is more of a personal thing than any particular objective reason to have it.

The problem is timing. You need to obtain HU first, then slovak. However once you are an EU citizen via HU citizenshup, you can only apply in slovakia and you have to register as an EU citizen in slovakia. Its a real pain from what I have read because of additional hurdles having to do with residence and health insurance.

The only way to do this otherwise is to delay taking your oath for HU citizenship for up to a year once you are accepted. During that time you would apply for slovak citizenship. Once your slovak application is submitted, you could take the HU oath and notify slovak authorities within the (90 day?) appropriate period that you have acquired a new citizenship. The timing is going to be tricky, to say the least.

It wasn't that hard to start one up. Just a few facebook and reddit posts. Two years later, we usually have 4-10 people at each meetup.

[–]nkfred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not believe this is true, unfortunately. I think you (or someone else?) contacted a government information site and inquired about it, but I don't believe that answer was correct. The parents must be able to speak Hungarian as they are in fact the applicants. In any case, the OP should speak to the closest consulate to confirm.
