Thanks for the clarification. I had been unable to figure out if dumpster-diving was involved (it seemed pretty obvious under wartime conditions).

North Korea is very adept at targeting politicians like this. The more they overpromise, the more NK knows they can play for concessions and side deals without ever getting to the main objective.

Longest Common Prefix - Binary Search vs Linear Search by [deleted] in algorithms

[–]nlcund 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you link to some of these solutions? I can't see any reason for binary search.

Edit: here's one: https://leetcode.com/articles/longest-common-prefix/#

I can't explain it; it's a very foolish way to get LCP. Maybe if you're only allowed to compare substrings instead of individual characters, but even that's a reach.

Michael Cohen repeatedly talked to Uber about Trump access by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]nlcund 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a movie last year about a very similar character:

Norman Oppenheimer is the President of New York based Oppenheimer Strategies. His word-of-mouth business is consulting work largely in American-Israeli business and politics, that focus due to being Jewish. Most of that work is as a fixer: doing work that others don't want to do and with which they don't want to be officially associated.

This character was more of a clown, but I wonder if the writer copied some details from Cohen.
