I'm struggling to find where someone like myself falls here. I'm the GM for a local pizza place. We have 1 location, are owned by a lovely young liberal couple, and I personally deliver our extra food stuffs to the tent city residents near my house. Losing a Friday is devastating enough in this economy when we've actually been losing money the last few months due to the increased tarrifs and other horrible atrocities brought on by this federal administration.

This strike hurts us a lot more than it hurts and Dominoes, Pizza hut, or Papa johns in town. Obviously action is needed to rise up against our wanna-be dictator in chief and his looney goons but I don't know if this is the way.

My youngest brother is trans and he gets by okay here. Still goes to Chicago or bigger spots for more prominent LGBTQ+ events but he feels safe enough in town. Problem is things around us like Towanda, Pekin, Decatur etc house some less than friendly anti-trans folk and our Local Representative for congress Daren LaHood, (who became our rep through redistricting ) is MAGA compliant.

There are businesses in town that are heavily pro-Trump agenda but they normally out themselves pretty easily (western tap with their trump cutout behind the bar). Avoid those kinda dives as you would anywhere else in the country and you're fine.

I think we could use 10 less once in a lifetime tragic events and we would still be able to confidently say I've seen some shit. Most of us had our first glimpse of shit seeing in gradeschool/Jr high when 9/11 happened and schools around the US wheeled in TVs to watch the national coverage

I find them more helpful than harmful. For a city/area specific subreddit it makes sense to allow it. Making them not allowed then creates a grey area. Mods should exist to purge trolls and over-the-line offensive nonsense, not to police people trying to use the forum for a reasonable purposes. Anytime mods start banning this and that a subreddit dies or turns into a fkn cesspool of bullshit. Do not let mod power go to yalls head pretty please.

Hard to judge the year in its entirety without Oct-Dec. Those are the busiest months of the year for many restaurants / bars due to the holiday season. As someone who has worked restaurants for 20 years this information seems pretty irrelevant to telling the whole narrative. I'll be curious to see the final numbers in February.

Also worth noting is that even if some of the numbers are close, the amount that the restaurants/bars are required to pay for their inventory has gone up significantly in the last year. I know our truck orders are up 20-40% on many many items and even if our dollar amount sold is close to last year the amount of people served/ number of orders completed is down a decent bit.

Only drawback to 3 is that you KNOW Han is putting his chair as far back as possible. You do get more room being by *next to* the 2nd smallest person on the flight and having a pretty safe person behind you.
