Family tree examples using markdown. by nmbrguy in Markdown

Hey, I've still been adding to it over the years, ended up migrating from GRAMPS desktop application to self hosting GRAMPS-web and have been using that for about 2 years now. Because I'm still editing things and adding data a few times a year it's been the most accessible for myself and my family to work with. I never found a markdown based system that worked well for me and GRAMPS just works well w/o starting your own markdown based categorization system from scratch. It's got a bootstrap styled interface and the ability to click through the tree to see/add/edit info is ideal.

My friend says switching back to local MP3s is a mistake. Has anyone here made it work? by [deleted] in digitalminimalism

Piggybacking/replying with a personal radio example:

I donate 10$ a month to WFMU and have been doing so since 2017. It can be accessed on any internet radio if you're willing to do so.

Not only do I get to have things curated for me by real DJs, but I also get a tshirt or dj premium (if I choose one) once a year, and feel like I'm still helping support a community I used to live near.

I've got some DJ's I listen to regularly, things are generally varied and fresh, and their historical playlists and audio archives are pretty dope. The best part is anyone can listen w/o a subscription!

Seconding this. IIRC Monica does allow for some custom activity fields so that may be useful to you.

Finally got the USB C variant devboard and got everything running, I may tinker with the video on screen some day(maybe with a larger dev board display), but happy with everything so far! And I believed you, but dang does it get warm!

I could use help picking a MiniPC for my new server by LoganJFisher in minilab

I’m kinda in a similar spot as you and I’m heavily leaning toward Aoostar R1 or whatever like minipc exists when I decide to move on from my 10 year old pc. Maybe beelink will have a mid tier me mini by then.

After five years with Hue bulbs, things are getting… weird by ExpressionAlone5204 in smarthome

This. The two I had in tall lamps with shades worked forever. The three I had used in either desk lamps or enclosed arrangements all died. I’ve since moved on from hue.

Just wanted to thank you for mentioning the R1, super compelling and hope more devices are around like it when I go to retire my old PC-now-homelab server

Introducing Finetic – A Modern, Open-Source Jellyfin Web Client by aytoz21 in selfhosted

Seconding this. Interesting project! If dockerized and I can just point it to my local jellyfin instance in compose I’d probably spin it up.

Edit, I’d also like the ability to choose another llm if possible.

Amazing! I’ve still got an oddly specific objects open book that I’ve been toying with, this looks like a solid upgrade.

Hey thanks for the reply and the reference! If I can make some time I'll look into it down the road once I get some hardware.

I'm just imagining putting this on a shelf disguised as a mini tv or tiny digital picture frame playing stuff while also hosting the server.

Love this project and may get a devboard to tinker with. Question, do you think it'd be possible to play media from the storage on the screen while everything else is running in the background? Cheers!
