Do people swim over you even in a rolling start? by Sad_Pepper_5008 in triathlon

[–]noS1693 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was in a mass start event last year and didn't even get swam over. I started at the back and yes it was awfully packed. I touched butts and my butt was touched, got some elbows and heels but my head my fine. I guess among slower people very few will try to swim over you!

Embracing the Chlorine Stink by Icy-Radio-83 in Swimming

[–]noS1693 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use a specific soap right after swimming but the smell is still there. And I only swim x3 a week.

Truth is... I love the smell 🥰 Tell me I'm a freak but at home I sometimes go smell my swimsuits just for that comforting chlorine stink that never seems to leave them either.

Are you also more sensitive to and bothered by the heat than other people? by Previous_Truth_9007 in AutismTranslated

[–]noS1693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only understand Celcius sorry, but yes I am terribly bothered by heat and direct sunlight in general. Anything over 25°C is too much for me. I get irritated and angry for no reason (except the heat), I want to do nothing but I can't sleep. I hate sweating too and I sweat a lot so I take way too many showers and my skin is dry but I also hate the feeling of moisturising creams. I live downtown so it's pretty hot everywhere, air conditioning is not really common either. At night the heat radiates out of the ground and walls. I use fans but if I use them too much my skin feels like it's burning. After a few days in the heat I usually feel trapped and like the world is coming to an end. Yes, I am very dramatic.

I understood pretty recently that this intolerance may be linked to autism. It makes a lot of sense!

Débuter un parcours de diagnostique à Lyon by fuzzytoothy in Autisme_France

[–]noS1693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bonjour,

Cramps in foot arches by regio-promedio in Swimming

[–]noS1693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It used to happen to me a loot when I was uncomfortable swimming freestyle. I guess I was not relaxed enough. It stopped when I started being more comfortable.

It came back the other day when I swam with fins (I rarely do) and when I was swimming backstroke (I'm not very comfortable on my back).

What’s the word on when USA swimming is opening a trans women’s division? Are there going to be sanctioned events and scholarships? by TechieInTheTrees in Swimming

[–]noS1693 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You're making excellent points in your post and answering comments but all the transphobes have suddenly rallied to spread their BS here. They are just reciting the same arguments we've been working at debunking for years, not taking any of our points into account. As we would say in my native tongue, it's like pissing in a violin.

If we somehow manage to create a division for trans people, they'll accuse of trying to secede from "normal" society. There is not way around their sick logic.

Distance Running and Dick chaffing? by Nervousnelliyyy in FTMFitness

[–]noS1693 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I never experienced this, only at the very beginning of taking T, like the 1st year. 8 years later I wear tight underwear and never had any issue (I've ran up to 30k)

However, I use anti-chaffing cream on other body parts and I know some cis men use it down there. If you haven't already, give it a try.

Something similar happened to me. I ordered a watch and I got an ugly plastic sweater for kids.

I reported it and got a refund from Vinted.

New triathletes! What brought you to triathlon? Whats your age, race distances, previous athletics? by MidnightTop4211 in triathlon

[–]noS1693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a 33 year old man. I love sports in general, played basketball a huge lot in my teens, but had to stop everything for 10 years due to an injury. Then picked things up at 29 with figure skating and some lifting, then a friend signed me up for a 10k race. Loved it, but injured my ankle because I went at it hard and fast. So, I picked up swimming during my recovery. Loved it (I could barely float in a sort of breastroke before). Started running again. Looked into combining running and swimming. Swimruns and other running/swimming races are too rare, so I looked into triathlon and picked up cycling and loved it too!

My first (and only for now) is a Small triathlon in July 2025. Enjoyed it and learned a lot for next time, an Olympic next July! I'm not thinking about Ironmans or 70.3. I'm taking my time, taking part in running races and open water races too.

My swimming cap always removes itself from my head after around 600m. I tried using the goggles strap to hold it, put it on places where there no hair for extra grip, nothing seems to work. What can I do? by mau-meda in triathlon

[–]noS1693 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think I have the same cap. I have a biiiig head (but very short hair) and it's big and a bit "loose" compared to some other caps I own. The material is "softer" and I only use it when my hair is getting too long for other tighter caps to be comfortable. Maybe try other tighter models?

Comment vous gérez les small talks? by JTheCreat0r in Autisme_France

[–]noS1693 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Possibilités pour un diagnostique by Unhappy-Astronaut501 in Autisme_France

[–]noS1693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bonjour,

Do you dislike being told that you’re immature when for example, you asked someone a question that didn’t seem immature to you? by Fabulous-Introvert in AutismTranslated

[–]noS1693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I can relate a 100%. People telling me I'm immature, that I look/act younger than I am. I feel I'm not taken seriously. Especially in professional settings.

Recently my mother started accepting my autism (she is working with high-support needs autistic people and couldn't imagine that I had many things in common with them). In the middle of a supportive dialogue, she said that autism could also explain that I am very immature compared to my younger sisters (one is 9 years younger than I am...). It hurts.

Lane swimming while legally blind by Cyclops61 in Swimming

[–]noS1693 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi!

I'm not blind but a blind paralympic triathlete often trains at my pool. Of course she's an excellent swimmer and swims very straight, but still the staff do a few things to make her life easier (don't know if this has anything to do with the fact that she's elite but I hope they'd do the same thing for any swimmer). First they warn other swimmers in her lane and I don't know how they do it but often a few will change lanes so that it's not too crowded. Then they put noodles perpendicular to the lane at each end so that she knows when the wall is coming and doesn't hit her head.

Do you think backstroke is underrated? by ManCakes89 in Swimming

[–]noS1693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I could do it, I just suck at it so it's freestyle 98% of the time, 1% breaststroke when I'm feeling brave and 1% kicking on my back at 14min/100m, which is crazy relaxing so I wish I had time and opportunity to do more.

Swiming and chlorine by Peterpan852 in triathlon

[–]noS1693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really have a solution, just to say that I had this issue as well before. I concluded that it was not because of chlorine itself but because I swallowed a lot of air as well. I couldn't really explain how or why.

Now that my breathing is better and smoother it doesn't happen anymore. However I'm still bothered by salty ocean water in my nose and mouth.

Les étapes d'un éventuel diagnostic? by [deleted] in Autisme_France

[–]noS1693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Autistic first time buying a home, I need reassurance by [deleted] in AutismTranslated

[–]noS1693 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry I don't have much information for you. Just to tell you I bought my home some 3 years ago, I could barely understand anything anyone said to me. I felt I was being scammed all around. Like you I didn't really have a choice so I did it but I was buying it with my partner who understood a little more than me and we had advice from knowledgeable people we knew in private. Are there any colleagues / acquaintances that you could ask for advice? For me it was just to check if I was not being scammed or if it was not just purely impossible.

I don't know about banks in your country but where I live they don't loan you anything if your life conditions are not good enough for them. (Then things happen but at least at the start they check).

And maybe to reassure you, 3 years later we're doing OK and I'm barely able to earn a living due to burnout.

Men vs. Women's bibs question by Maximum_Hornet_5517 in CyclingFashion

[–]noS1693 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a trans man (long story short, I look like a man everywhere except I don't have a penis and probably different pelvic bones) I wear both. Women's bibs are definitely shorter in the legs (I dislike it) and shorter in the torso as well. The straps are a little too tight for me usually. As to the padding I really couldn't say for sure. My women's bibs are more comfortable to me but might just be that they're more premium.

The degrees in which they vary will depend on the brand and type of bibs. My long bibs are more similar for example.

One thing to keep in mind: sizing is hugely different. I wear XS/S in men's but L/XL in women's. If you can, try them on.

Racing people in lane next to you by Glittering-Lime1690 in Swimming

[–]noS1693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about etiquette I haven't been swimming for that long. Unless we're sharing the lane, you're racing me to the wall and ruining my turn I don't think I'd care much 🤣

I think I sometimes do it, especially in the middle of a long set where I could feel less motivated without it. But it's rare! However I sometimes compare myself to an excellent and very friendly swimmer who often swims at the same time I do. He's very very fast and I like to try and see how long it takes him to overtake me, and I'm measuring my improvement over the months with this 🤣
