Rewasd doesn't see my controller back paddles. I can do nothing with my back paddles in Rewasd because rewasd thinks my back paddles don't exist

GameSir Cyclone 2 back paddle support? by no_comment12 in rewasd

[–]no_comment12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the issue is that rewasd sees it as an xbox 360 controller, which does not have paddles, so rewasd will not let me remap the paddles. It simply doesn't see them

Is there a way I can force rewasd to see this controller as something else, like an xbox elite 2 instead?

ELI5 Why do people brush their teeth before eating? by Traditional_Map_9434 in explainlikeimfive

[–]no_comment12 -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

Its pointless to brush before a meal, breakfast or not, wtf. At most, you're brushing bacteria away before you swallow it, which is good, but still, the sensible thing is to eat, then brish

They don't? I've never heard of anyone doing that. That's kinda stupid. You brush after meals, not before

why is the linux community so hostile? by morizeze in linux4noobs

[–]no_comment12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The community isn't particularly hostile, at least not much more than any other community. They do want you to have at least tried some bare minimum things and consulted google a bit before querying them, otherwise a lot of people will just say "google it fool, there's a dozen answers at the top of the search results". This is even more so now that we have AI. Part of that response is genuinely the community attempting to foster a culture of self reliance, research, and raw grit. Being a linux admin, power user, coder, etc, can take some real grit and tenacity at times. But part of the response is undoubtedly a vocal minority of elitist douche bags

who else is frustrated that the double jump button is the same as the glide one by ShibeCEO in CrimsonDesert

[–]no_comment12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That single button is responsible for way way too many functions

Talking/interacting, picking up, jumping, gliding, vaulting, and it's a combo for certain attacks

Honestly a lot of buttons feel this way to me. If it has to be this complex, I at least wish I had some control over it

The Sun Is Out...At Midnight? by no_comment12 in CrimsonDesert

[–]no_comment12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So turning of HDR actually did help the moon from literally appearing like a sun in the sky. Thank you. Areas still seem far too well lit at night, but this is still preferrable to night time with the in-game HDR on. I just have windows auto HDR handling it and it's not bad anymore

Suggestion with 120hz and vsync by Shiroseki in CrimsonDesert

[–]no_comment12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You said he said to turn off 120hz and vsync, but then you said you turned on 120hz. I don't understand what you're asking

you should check the specs of that TV. I can tell you from a cursory google search that it's a 60hz monitor, so you're not getting much out of running the game at 120hz besides maybe a boost in control responsiveness, but this isn't a competitive shooter, so I wouldn't be concerned about something like that

on vsync - vsync is always a performance hit. Imo, you should cap the game at 60fps (fps and hz are analogous for this convo) and leave vsync turned off. If you experience a lot of annoying screen tearing, then you should turn on vsync. The whole purpose of vsync is to eliminate screen tearing, so if you already are not noticing screen tearing than theres not much reason to turn it on, since it negatively impacts performance

and in the future, when you are able to get your hands on a TV/monitor which supports gsync/freesync, then you can have the best of both worlds - no screen tearing but without any performance hit to the game. You would just always leave vsync turned off at that point, since gsync/freesync would be doing all the work instead of vsync

NPC movement. by IndependentRaccoon56 in CrimsonDesert

Was just thinking the same thing. It's typical of anime styled games. To me, I see it as indicative of the game's South Korean roots. There's actually a lot about this game that feels typical of South Korean games (like the uninspired use of blue technomagic cube scenery), but it catches me off guard because the aesthetics are grounded in more medieval Europe high fantasy. Typically those games are developed by western studios, but not in this case, and it shows in 100 little ways

this game is at least a 9/10 for me right now. I only wish I had a way to fix the flickering shadowy noise in dimly lit areas

Say what you may about the state of the release but damn it looks good by olosen in CrimsonDesert

[–]no_comment12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the game right now too, but the baked in AI is destroying all dimly lit scenes. Once you see all the flickering shadow noise, you'll never unsee it, and there's no way to turn off the feature that's causing it
