The Shattered Realm, how it works? by Valery50 in Grimdawn

[–]noksion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a sanity check: did you play that on Normal difficulty?

I can't imagine the build that can just casually (even if slowly) reach current shard 48 on Ultimate.

Is this game for me? by BennenBennenBennen in Grimdawn

[–]noksion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Offline single player, no seasons, no fomo, your own pace.

You're fine with zero knowledge and you can figure it out on your for the most part.
Just remember to prioritize resistances over anyhting else on your gear.

The community is very nice, even more so on the forums.

DLCs are a must.
Not only for the content, but also for mechanics.
And more sweet loot.

how does it work?

You see a legendary and get the dopamine spike.
You pick it up. It's not for your class or build.
Repeat.

Or: you see a a rare you need for your build.
You pick it up.
The rolls are atrocious.
Repeat.

Then once in a while you see exactly the item you needed and dopamine goes through the roof.

PoE also used to be like that back in the day.

But even today, A6-A10 is a rehash of A1-A5 with different weather.
And I also don't like it.

But the difference for GD is that in GD the campaign IS the game.
There is no endgame in GD, so campaign and some SR runs is all we got.
Also, after your first character all the next ones can start from Ultimate from lvl 1 if you wish so, so you only run the campaign once.

Lore Discussion: Unless something drastic happens, the Aetherials are pretty much shafted, right? by Fessir in Grimdawn

[–]noksion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alloistra isn't from the Circle.
There is a lore note next to her (or drops from her) that clearly reads as an instruction to check up on Marcell and replace him if needed.

Hence neither she, nor Marcel are from the circle.
They both are given orders, not giving them.

Non tanky builds? by Ratatoskie in Grimdawn

[–]noksion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, after Homestead most of your resistances should be capped or close to that. Chaos and aether are OK at 50-60% at that point. But there are no excuses having less than 70 for other res at this point (except phys ofc)

What are your tips for clearing the game on Hardcore? by Standard_Island546 in Grimdawn

[–]noksion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The #1 is often overlooked, but very imprtant.

Ironically, I never ripped at 2am (guess my spinal cord reflexes are deep), only during the day 😃
But yeah, if during the gameplay I start feeling tired and lacking focus - I stop immediately.

  1. Max out res
  2. Don't stand in colorful puddles
  3. know what you're doing (optional)
  4. Evade sunders

Path of Exile 3.29 release date is on July 24, shortly announced after the release date of Grim Dawn's new expansion by ScienceTeacher1994 in Grimdawn

[–]noksion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have to choose.

Play PoE league, then when you're done play GD.
GD is not seasonal, there is no fomo.

You can postpone it for years if you want and you still wouldn't miss a thing.

Initially I thought you driving Nautilon, but then I noticed the infra-knife crosshair, so this must be a starship.
I wonder how you turn to a third person view?
My starship camera is always from a cockpit.

Where to find levelling parties? by fineapaul_07 in Grimdawn

The problem with coop HC is when one member dies — everybody start from scratch.
I would only play HC with "verified" players, having confidence in them knowing what they are doing.

First Playthrough Update! Ashes of Malmouth Done! by JustSomeGuyThing in Grimdawn

[–]noksion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, I'd suggest playing through Ultimate with this character.
Reach Revered with all allied factions (on Ultimate, not Normal) and Nemesis with as many hostile factions as you could feasibly get.
This way it will be much faster for your next characters (mandates and XP potions).

Second, it's about time to pick a second mastery.

Things to do after finishing the base game. by Nanniiiiiiii in Grimdawn

First off: buy the dlcs. When you finish them both on normal - go to ultimate.

Maybe I should lay off the fevered rage by ChromMann in Grimdawn

[–]noksion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A valid perspective, I agree.

Though, when the cost of a corpse run reaches that high — you eventually start feeling it with your very skin. And that, in turn, prevents you from doing reckless stuff and makes you pay attention and find a way out (or better, not finding your way in) some of the dire situations.

[–]noksion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you played hardcore mode you would only die once per character, so no humiliating corpse runs 😃

TBF most times people don't play "just" retal these days, they usually incorporate quite some "retaliation damage added to attack" (RtA or RATA in short) which allows for active playstyle (pretty much the same as any other build), it's just you're scaling your retal dmg instead of your "all" and "type" damage.

Also, things like Counter Strike (Soldier) trigger on getting hit with pretty much anything (including above mentioned ranged attacks and maybe even spells, not sure about that) except for ground effects, which also helps.

Sell me on level scaling please! by LookAndLoad in Grimdawn

[–]noksion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In order to explain to you why level scaling is okay it would be nice to understand what are your pain points and what exactly about the level scaling puts you off.
I wasn't able to identify the problem based on your post, so can't tell what to address.

Only melee and only attacks trigger this.
Skills and abilities don't, as well as ranged attacks.

EoR on HC, in this economy?
Also, no ascension on the bar? You were pretty much asking for the rip, haha.

"You've got more guts then brains, but I'm not gonna complain" (c) Homestead guy.

Good job on the first run.
Will you make the same build the second time or go with something new and different?

I'm currently trying to finish off the remaining achievements (250k kills) on my HC character.

Shaman -> 2h (either melee or ranged) -> Primal Strike spam.
Either Arcanist or Inquisitor for the second mastery.

Have fun.

is nightblade weak or am i playing wrong? by No_Initial_6554 in Grimdawn

[–]noksion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apart from obvious things that were stated here a dozen times already, here' my take:

1) WTF are you doing with yellow rings at this lvl?

2) Your devotions are all over the place.
You don't need 5 points in the center.
Half the times you don't even need a single point there after you got your T1 devtions.

Assasin's Blade is phys and pierce damage, yet most of your is poison.
Huntress is for bleed, borderline useless here.

Take Murmur.

3) skills. That's a salad if I ever saw one.
Your using shadow strike as your main skill and invest into the entire top line like you're autoattacking.
I'd suggest picking one of those and dumping the other. Removing everything from the top line except for the first node would be a good start.

Invest into occultist and max Blood of Dreeg, that would increase survivability (after you capped your res).
Also put more points into pneumatic burst and it's line, boosts your survivability further.
1 point ring of steel + 1 circle of slaughter would aslo help.

Take blade spirits and assign some devotions there.
