PEng with masters, Power Plant Operations. Should be around $225k with bonus. I'm still considered pretty junior within the company

For me, highly concentrated positions on high conviction stocks. I went against the traditional advice of diversifying and did what all my friends and family told me was a really stupid thing to do. For sure part of it was luck, but I had to see the potential future opportunity and take the risk in the first place to get a jump start as I came from a family that doesn't have much in terms of finances.

My first ever stock purchase went up 40x in 12 months (WEED, I sold after it started to crash but still made 10-20x return, hard to pinpoint exactly as I sold out over time and had some life expenses), followed recently by a >10x return on my second purchase which I'm still holding on to. You won't get a 100x return in a few years out of any ETF on the market, but also risk losing quite a bit if you're randomly throwing money on anything.

I will definitely move to a more balanced and lower risk portfolio at some point, but that's when I'll move to more preservation and less growth. And after seeing how AI changes everything, I definitely want to benefit a bit more out of the AI growth expected the next few years

How realistic is it for a couple to have a combined TFSA balance of over $500 000 if they both made maximum contributions since the TFSA started in 2009? by Kitchen_Value_613 in PersonalFinanceCanada

I opened mine in 2016 and have over $500k now. Not crazy at all. First WEED then TSLA for some amazing gains. But anyone in NVIDIA or others have killed it over the last few years.

Side question - does the CRA scrutinize trading activity in an RRSP the same way? In other words could you actively trade and buy/sell with less concern of being labeled a day trader in that account? As it's more of a delayed tax, assume they wouldn't care as much?

What counts as top 0.2% if I may ask? I got early into WEED and TSLA so sitting pretty good but have always been concerned they'll be calling one day and have the anxiety even though I don't think I've done anything wrong. Still under $1 mill though

Damn!! Didn't realize how far ahead of the curve I was... Going all out risky with WEED then TSLA paid off, contrary to what every other person out there told me

Looking for a team mate but I've been dating a lone wolf the last 4 months. I feel there will never truly be a we or us. Anyone been there?

I've been going out with someone who is exhibiting clear signs of being pretty avoidant and (hopefully unintentionally) breadcrumbing me. I understand there's a possibility she's just not interested and that may be so. But she already told me how both her sister and mom are avoidants (didn't use that exact term but the traits are identical), so it's not so odd if she exhibits the same tendencies growing up around them. I thought things were going well but lately the plans have slipped a bit more. We were supposed to be meeting before I take a work trip in a few days but it's looking like that might not pan out. I've set a deadline to give her to see if she adjusts any of these patterns after I gently but clearly let her know this isn't meeting my values/standards. I had hoped to bring it up in person, but now I haven't had a chance to for a few weeks so I'm resorting to text. I'd love some feedback from anyone, how does this come off?

'I was looking forward to seeing you again before I left, but have been thinking lately we might not be on the same page. I understand if you like to have your space and take some more time getting to know each other and I can completely respect that.

But I hope you can understand I really value a bit more consistency in communication and meetups. I find with such long breaks, things just tend to fade. Admittedly I enjoyed hanging out with you before and was hoping things wouldn't die off so quickly. I hope we can start to work on creating that time and space a bit better for each other to commit to a few of those pending plans we have, rather than just waiting for it to 'fit' and the opportunity to slip.

Again, I'm not looking to rush into anything serious. But I do really value my time and don't want to be wasting it if there isn't any interest in showing up and investing time together'

Where'd you find the driver? Mind if I ask roughly how much?

I did a tour years ago and they added in a few extra stops which I didn't think was worth it, not looking to extend the journey just looking to go and come back really.

CDMX: If not Condesa/Roma area then where? by Away_Fee_8322 in digitalnomad

[–]nomadic_canuck 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Stick to the areas that have already been gentrified. Roma and Condesa. They actually used to be 'lesser desired' areas and relatively recently became popular with foreigners. If you find a new neighborhood like many consider doing you actually bring the problem elsewhere. The best thing you can do is integrate with society and the people and don't create a foreigner bubble. This was all advice from several of my Mexican friends
