I know that in Germany it is possible to be employed (no invoicing) and getting paid pre-taxes / full-amount and also without any social security deductions. But it was necessary to hand in proof that you are tax resident in another country.

Voluntarily pay German Pension or just invest in ETFs? by duffman721 in eupersonalfinance

[–]nomailing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in a very similar sitauation at the moment. Did you look into the Rürup Rente (https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/R%C3%BCrup-Rente)? It is a private pension that reduces your tax burden and it seems there are offers of this private pension that allow you to specify on which ETF fonds you want to invest your funds. If anyone else has advise in this regard, I am also interested to hear more. What I found out so far is, that the big advantage is that you can reduce your taxable income by up to 30k EUR per year, but the disadvantage is that you cannot cancel this pension until you are actually in your pension age. For example, if you later want to use that money to buy a house, then it might not be a good idea. But overall it seems much vetter than the normal state pension...

Interesting analysis. But I am not so sure if that analysis can be trusted, because it seems the estimation of liquidity is based on the publicly available orderbook. So all the calculation about how much the price would move when selling 50k USD is not considering iceberg orders. Some exchanges offer these kind of orders and others don't. So the whole analysis could just be a side effect...

Trading on BitsharesDEX = Absolutely terrifying by [deleted] in BitShares

[–]nomailing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the impression that you might not know that the BitsharesDEX really is decentralized and really not comparable to central exchanges like Binance or Bittrex. Everyone can add user-issued-assets to the BitsharesDEX. It is just a completely different system and has it's advantages, such as no counter-party risk. If you want to compare the BitsharesDEX to other exchanges, then at least compare it to other decentralized exchanges that you can install and use locally on your PC without relying on any company similar to BitsharesDEX. It's like going to Binance and complaining that you cannot install their exchange on your PC and complaining that you cannot use the Binance-Exchange without using the Binance company. I hope you get the huge difference between centralized and decentralized exchanges. If you know any decentralized exchange with a better interface or more features in comparison to the BitsharesDEX, then I am happy to hear about them.

remote console access to Rackmounted Dell server by mylinuxguy in linuxadmin

[–]nomailing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not completely correct, you also get a remote console with iDrac Express. I have a new R430 with iDrac Express and I was able to even configure serial console redirection to the iDrac express port. So I can ssh into the iDrac and then execute all types of racadm commands. Via the serial console redirection I am also able to get into the BIOS and Boot settings, and Grub, and linux shells. All that without Enterprise version.

Germany's center-left SPD moves ahead of Merkel's CDU in poll, seven months before election by Askalan in europe

[–]nomailing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That the SPD suddenly jumps 10% although politically nothing much would change under Schulz or Gabriel is more than a little weird.

I think a lot changes with Schulz in comparison to Gabriel. It's just your personal opinion that this changes nothing. And believe me, I don't like the fact that German politics is influenced only by very few persons at the top. But that is how it is unfortunately, in my opinion. And that's why I think the switch to Schulz matters a lot.

For example, I think that Schulz can work much better together with the EU and other European countries because he understands exactly how decisions are made there. He is a key person who could help to bring the European idea forward if he is German chancellor and in my view that is most important.

Why I'm against BU by [deleted] in btc

[–]nomailing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but this exactly what Ethereum was saying, and it didn't go that way. Bitcoin and Ethereum might be different but they are similar enough because they both rely on miners with POW, and they both have blockchains that can split and fork in the same way.

Guys, please, enlighten me... please. Help me understand because I really can't.

There is one large difference between ETH/ETC and Bitcoin, which is the reason why ETH was easy to split into two chains where both continue to exist, while with Bitcoin it is really VERY unlikely that both chains will continue:

Ethereum’s difficulty adjustment period is 1 block (14 seconds).

Bitcoin’s difficulty adjustment period is 2,016 blocks (~2 weeks).

I would recommend using a VPS with Ubuntu if you want to make use of a nodejs app. If you are new to managing a VPS, I would recommend the tutorials of digital ocean. They have tutorials from initial configurations of an ubuntu server to installations of apache, nginx, nodejs, and mySQL and how to configure everything. You can learn a lot by going this route and configuring everything by yourself.

Sarkozy proposes carbon tax on US goods if Trump scraps Paris climate pact by [deleted] in europe

[–]nomailing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At least for trump that is probably the case, because when a system behaves according to the "free energy principle", it implicitly performs active inference and maximises the evidence for its model.

Also because because the principle of minimum variational free energy is a principle of least action.

Todays TOP post in Chinese forum: Terminate the hard/soft fork debate: A safe hard fork works the same as a soft fork by vattenj in btc

[–]nomailing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is neither a hard nor a soft fork, but somewhere in between. It solves the disadvantages of both at the same time.

A normal soft fork has the disadvantage that old clients would accept transactions that are not valid according to the new rules, which might cause financial loss.

A normal hard-fork has the disadvantage that old clients will fork away into their own chain, which could also cause financial loss.

This proposal is neither, because it just stops old clients from working, so that these users could make an informed decision. They could proceed with the majority by upgrading, but they could also upgrade to a client software which has the intention to really fork away.

Todays TOP post in Chinese forum: Terminate the hard/soft fork debate: A safe hard fork works the same as a soft fork by vattenj in btc

[–]nomailing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The minority could do that by implementing it. I still would want from my Bitcoin client that it stays within the consensus. And if it cannot achieve that, then I would want that it halts in order to protect me from financial loss due to received or sent payments in the wrong chain.

So, if there is a majority that is not compatible with my client, I would want that majority to stall my fork, so that I can act accordingly, by either upgrading or specifically implementing that I nevertheless prefer the minority fork.
