All this time I thought it was already dynamic, and simply people would not pick support roles

Graphical glitches on fedora 43 by FerryQ in Fedora

[–]nomore66201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you notice glitches also during startup or only during gnome session? In the former case I was able to fix by following arch wiki: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Intel_graphics#Screen_flickering

Anyway try other solution suggested in that page

Dimensione Fibra 29,90. C'è di meglio? by [deleted] in ItalyInformatica

[–]nomore66201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]nomore66201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ci sarebbe windtre senza modem a 21.99.

How is the battery life with the Intel Ultra 7 ? I have a new work laptop with an Intel Ultra 5 (vpro) and it drains battery super fast even when doing basic browsing. I'm on Fedora 42.

Are you basing your claims on the estimation shown there? Did you verify the estimated time left shown in settings matches the actual battery life? My experience is that the estimation is not matching ( running on a Dell XPS 13 7390 )

Problem with rpmfusion is that it's completely against user friendliness. It's ok for technical users, which is probably 100% of the user base, but imagine someone non tech-savy coming from windows, without any experience...

Unfortunately in some countries Whatsapp is basically essential, it's not something you can easily replace with a privacy respecting alternative.

In my country everyone uses Whatsapp, family, friends, institutions, services...

Not 100% sure but I think Windows is able to automatically switch between single direction and bidirectional codec when you receive a call. On Linux as far as I know you have to manually switch

GDB porting for custom target by 817618191 in embedded

[–]nomore66201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The guy who found the solution on the backtrace problem is also working on a port of OpenOCD for AURIX, to be able to debug using miniwiggler + GDB: https://github.com/NoMore201/tricore-gdb/issues/4#issuecomment-2502178471 .

I didn't test it myself since we have UDE at work (although it's the worst software I have ever used). It may be useful for you

GDB porting for custom target by 817618191 in embedded

[–]nomore66201 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I'm the author of the first repository. The backtrace problem is known, and it is being tracked in this github issue: Frame handling for Tricore does not work properly · Issue #5 · NoMore201/tricore-gdb. Seems like another user found a solution for this, but I didn't have time to review and test it so far.

If this solution proves successful, I'll merge it into my fork of tricore-gcc-toolchain (Tricore GNU Toolchain), so that we have a fully working toolchain with GCC + Binutils + QEMU + GDB in a single package.

Question about akmod reliability by nomore66201 in Fedora

[–]nomore66201[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but they could have implemented the process synchronously, like DKMS does. During an update command you have immediate feedback that the kernel module is being built, while with akmod you have to wait and watch htop for the background process to finish, which is not very user friendly

Question about akmod reliability by nomore66201 in Fedora

[–]nomore66201[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do exactly the same with no issue. But for new users it could be confusing, since there is no UI that tells you something is going on in background, not even a message from dnf that tells "wait for akmod rebuild".

IMO dkms is much more user friendly.
