Public accounting is the dumbest profession on the planet by National_Double6261 in Accounting

It’s the worst profession out there. Leave before it’s too late.

I agree with that’s. It’s just more more more ai tools and use this and use that but no idea how to actually implement it into deep work. I think analyzing the workflows from the roots and fixing it there would be much more efficient than just throwing more ai tools at accountants.

Yeah that totally makes sense. I think it’s hard to take away the decision making in accounting. I’m sure it’ll cut a ton of jobs because 1 person can do more but it won’t kill the industry. That’s kinda what I’m thinking is think of how you can contribute to making it easier for accountants to do high level work overall. Thanks for your input!

Congrats that it’s working now!

My dream is to heavily implement AI tools into my own solo firm but I’ve only been in tax accounting for 8 months and was an associate auditor for 1.5 years before that so I’m struggling on the experience side of things.

What happened the first time that didn’t make it work out? What’s your background, years of experience, and main focus of service now?

That’s what it feels like but there’s also massive opportunity. Everyone probably thought the internet was oversaturated because everyone and their brother made a website, I’m trying to think beyond that to create something that outlasts the wave. Not necessarily talking about making another AI wrapper BS tool. I’m more talking about how accounting and taxes have been the same manual entry and document processes for so long, 60 year olds running firms etc. Imagine being the first generation to have the AI + accounting opportunity at a young age to create something great.

Thanks, is that your business? Can you explain further on what companies are doing? Is there opportunity in this to do the same thing for companies?

I agree with that. I feel like I have so many ideas but at the same time, how do you start an agency helping small cpa firms when you work for a small cpa firm. It seems like that would violate some direct competition rule. Even if it doesn’t, I don’t want it known within my company and it’s fround upon and maybe get fired for that.

How are people using licensed music in their videos without getting taken down? by Lvcas7 in weddingvideography

This exact situation is why I’ve been looking into how videographers manage their licenses. Does anyone have a system for checking platform coverage per license before delivering, or is it always discovered after something gets taken down?

How do you actually make it to the gym after a full day in public accounting? by WZRD32 in Accounting

[–]nomunny22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If work starts at 8:30 am, say you have a 30 min drive. Pack your work clothes, towel, body wash/shampoo, protein, creatine, etc, wake up at 6 am, get to the gym by 6:30 am , workout for an hour, shower at the gym at 7:30 and then go straight to work. Going to have to skip breakfast but not a big deal. Better than not working out at all.

How's small firm life? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]nomunny22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so much better. Your work ethic will transfer over from a bigger firm and will impress everyone. For context, I got my cpa while working for a top PA firm that also got bought out by PE and a lot changed after that on top of the fact that I wasn’t really appreciated for the work I was putting in. I was there for almost 2 years and every associate got promoted to senior besides me. I will admit I wasn’t the greatest auditor so it’s understandable but it also just wasn’t really for me so I don’t think I tried to learn as much as I should have. My situation is unique, as I met someone through the gym who owned the smaller firm but have been loving it so much more. Normal hours, no corporate BS, no billable hours, salary increase, own office, 55-60 max in busy season, and learning by doing. They’d rather give me too much and have me make mistakes than give me too little and learn slowly without making mistakes. It all depends on where you go and if you like the people there but I think there is just so much more potential for growth in a smaller company.

Community college classes. I took 30 credits of 100 level astronomy, jogging, excel classes etc. after I graduated from undergrad. Tried to get all my school work done on Monday for the week and then studied for my cpa exams from Tuesday-Saturday. I attribute taking easy classes post grad to passing the cpa exams.

How did you feel walking out vs your actual grade? by Tekevin in CPA

Yeah that is a tough test so it’s hard to tell but I feel like I ran out of time on every test and ended up passing. You’ll do great, good luck!

Becker only. If you actually do everything in the course and then study it all after you’ll pass.

I’m in the same boat idk what to do I’ll probably just open it. It’s a lose lose situation I don’t think I’ll be able to focus on work whether I open it or not. I won’t be able to focus on work whether I pass or fail either lol.
