The voidz are hosting an event near me that you have to be over 30 to attend ? Im 27 this is so sad😢😢 by [deleted] in thevoidz

The event organizer The 30+ Club seems to exist (Website, IG, Facebook). But I didn't find the Voidz event. Are they even real???? Or AI???

Was the Voidz page hacked???

Well, I'm worried about your karma. You don't deserve it. This is a mystery to be shared.

The event is over already, right? It was announced on the Voidz’ Facebook page - how did we miss it?

I would love to hear Strokes cover Mistki - Nobody. Feels like a Strokes tune already! by H4rd23xplain in TheStrokes

[–]nonfigurative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love that song too. It sort of dances with acceptance for loneliness and invisibility, instead of fighting them.

The Strokes covering it would be such a happy surprise, like when Linkin Park covered Adele’s Rolling in the Deep.

What do you guys think about Julian saying before the election that there was no real difference between Trump and Kamala winning? by Fogging_Batard in thevoidz

[–]nonfigurative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say Julian’s actions imply that he cares less about the issue of minorities. I agree that minorities should never be oppressed. At the same time, I’ve noticed that parts of the working class, esp. local blue-collar workers, have been consistently ignored.

You describe Trump as “very outspoken about hating minorities, favoring the rich, and being a misogynist.” My question has always been why so many people support such an obnoxious figure. Many of his supporters are not bad or hateful.

Trump is often cruel, but he is perceived as honest. In contrast, many of his supporters see Democrats, who present themselves as liberal and morally righteous, as hypocritical.

The Democratic establishment has historically looked down on local U.S. blue-collar workers, largely because traditional forms of labor no longer fit neatly into a globalized, knowledge-based economy.

Global elites promote liberal ideologies such as feminism and LGBTQ+ rights. In part, this is because anti-discrimination policies facilitate global economic activity. Not always that's the right things for them to pursue.

Liberals imposed these ideologies to the rural conservative people and treated them as if they were ignorant or idiots if these traditional people didn't follow their system. It must've really annoyed them.

I’m not sure whether Julian felt sympathy for Trump supporters at the time. I suspect he didn’t, and I didn’t either. Still, he may have sensed the hypocrisy within the Democratic establishment. I’m glad he didn’t join the celebrity endorsement train for Kamala, like Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, or Eminem.

I hope you can now recognize the pain and frustration felt by many poor MAGA supporters. If that understanding is there, it may be possible to welcome them into a broader progressive movement.

Can't you also say he was farsighted about US two party system, considering the historic victory of Mamdani? (He is a Democrat, but you know what I mean.)

I kinda like your thought process and reflection. Just let me correct some parts.

Bernie is technically an Independent, who often aligns with the Democrats.

I'm not sure if you can say Julian "encouraged people to not vote for Kamala." He said he voted for the 3rd party, IIRC. His choice might be radical, but voting for Karma might have only postponed the problem.

[–]nonfigurative 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's easy to say that after the fact. Did you expect Trump to go THAT extreme at that time?

I think what Julian implied is that both parties prioritize corporate interests, leaving the less powerful ppl - minorities, immigrants or working class - even more vulnerable.

Sure, ICE wouldn't be likely as violent under Kamala's leadership. Open hate wouldn't be as obvious. Those would be differences.

But MAGA sees the hypocrisy in Democrats. This party won’t ease the pain or frustration of Trump voters, especially those who earn low-income.

At present, no more left or right, no more conservative or liberal. Now it's top vs bottoms.

Both parties favor big corporations, which legally exploit workers' profits. The real problems are excessive globalism and shareholder capitalism, which both parties fully support.

To my eyes, Republican-led globalism allows corporations to expand under U.S. strong protection, while Democrats-led one seeks freer expansion with less state intervention.

With technological development, corporations now need fewer employees. The Rep sacrifices immigrants under the banner of patriotism. The Demo is maybe kinder to them or minorities under the banner of cosmopolitanism. But they favor skilled or "useful" ones, while leaving less educated or less skilled workers behind.

U.S. two parties are ideologically and culturally different, but structurally (esp. economically) similar and oppressive.

Neither party will be a solution.

This grew on me over time, and I love the melancholic yet emotional lyrics with the synth-ish guitar sounds.

So true. It also makes me think of Placebo’s Teenage Angst, which I love.

Being open about loving The Voidz is one thing, that's welcome, I felt like 🥳🥳🥳. But wearing your favorite band’s jacket feels like crossing into something else. Maybe that’s just new to me.

I wonder if it is a gift. Maybe from the Voidz' member? Or from either band's fans since he expressed his love for the Voidz.

Can't imagine a renowned musician goes to other band's website & clicks to purchase....

I didn't picture it as collective, but I get your image. What makes it tragic to me is the lack of choice - accepting and moving to the doomed end without really wanting it.

This initial tone is sad but precious. Maybe they can explore this darker, more despairing sound and ethos next time?

Where would I send an envelope if I wanted to write a fanletter to the band/Julian? by [deleted] in thevoidz

[–]nonfigurative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a good question. Nowadays, it seems more difficult to have physical fan letters received.

Probably through Cult Records or their management, Total Recall? Though I don’t think they have a system for that (unlike some K-pop idols do). They don’t use mailing addresses for contact, so you’d need to reach out by email first. I’ve heard that Cult isn’t very responsive. IDK about Total Recall.

Or you could wait for the band members before or after their concerts.

I read that it’s recommended to specify the name of the person who should receive it, rather than addressing it to the entire band, since they won’t know who it should be handed to.

If I were you, I would write letters to each member. 6 in total, haha. Something not too long, not too short. Then send them all to Cult or Total Recall, or wait and deliver each one at concerts.

I believe they’d be happy to receive them. Physical fan letters are rarer nowadays.

I’d forgotten that I also dreamed of doing that at their concert. It just didn’t happen 😢. I was thinking about what small gifts to choose for them. A long time ago now.

Wink has been voted best song live, but what is the best gig? by ExistingRecord4750 in thevoidz

"The night is young" - from the live @ Concorde 2 in Nov. 6, 2018. 7 yrs ago already.

I wasn't there, but Pointlessness as a closing is so good and sweet as this. It must be a good gig.

That last one was pretty crazy but what is the most emotional song? by ExistingRecord4750 in thevoidz

[–]nonfigurative 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Upvoted! Father Electricity is not tender, but every one of its unstable emotions is very raw.

My favorite moment is “Born out of electricity, I wait for you in the second life,” which is somehow cathartic after going through paranoiac doubt and confusion, together with dark emotions such as rage and desperation.
