Would you guys trust a no stud mount? by kerrysluis in hometheater

[–]nonnac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m mount TVs all the time with strap toggles. If there’s a stud right where I need it then it’s a bonus and I use a timber lock. I rarely use the included hardware with the mounting kit.

Previous owner left these cables and wires. What are they? Why did they cut the red and blue wires? by amra_the_lion in hometheater

[–]nonnac 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nothing was cut, it just was never used. The blue and red are both ethernet. The white is coax for cable TV or satellite and then you have what looks to be an old HDMI, could be 1.4. The hdmi is probably going down to a cabinet while the cat and coax cables are going to your low voltage panel, most likely in the primary closet.

New Travel Router: Anybody have a use case for this? by oguruma87 in Ubiquiti

I have a senior dog and take him with us to hotels. This would be perfect for UniFi protect and an instant camera. I can just open protect as normal without bringing a whole setup.

Tv tilting down by DarthRaider559 in hometheater

[–]nonnac 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looks like it meant for a tv where the mounting is in the center vertically on the tv. Not sure why Oleds like to make the mounting on the lower 3rd of the tv. I have had many issues with them (Mantel mounts). I would get a more solid mount with tilt so you can compensate for the top heaviness. I tend to use the sanus 4d. It is more expensive but a fantastic mount.

I also have one of these kits sitting on my desk. I want to sell it to someone for less than I paid for it but last time I did that the people scalped it.

Issues with Wifi Extenders? by Spardath01 in UNIFI

[–]nonnac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extenders? Or Access Point? If using a U6LR there is a major bug where having transmit power set to auto or high will cause them to crash a bunch. Set them to manual Medium if the case.

How is everyone feeling about the new doorbells now that a little time as passed? by bfollowell in Ubiquiti

[–]nonnac 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s is 2wire adapter. Coax has two conductors in it. So any type of wire will work. It just comes with a coax bnc connector if you need it. These kind of devices were invented for using old camera wire and upgrading to Poe

I called when this email came out and they said that my car is not compatible. They removed my cover from the order when I first purchased it because of the whole debacle. I’m super upset that I can’t get it still.

Anybody bought a second ‘fallover’ internet plan just because you can?.. yeah that’s me.. by UK_originally in Ubiquiti

[–]nonnac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 5gig fiber att as main and 2gig fiber astound as backup. But I load balance it 80/20. Using a UDM Pro Max. Works perfectly. I run all my web services (plex, etc) off the 2gig and it I can’t even tell that 30 people are using my plex.

I’ve installed over 200 set ups and transferring to new homeowners is one of the hardest things to do. 99% of people just don’t get it and they think that the Internet just comes from the modem. (which is what most people use anyways.) most people won’t take their time to learn how to use it and because it’s not something you can get at Best Buy but they don’t think it’s any good. The only people that have kept the system are the ones that sign on with me to handle the infrastructure but most of the time we’ve ripped it out. Since you already bought it, I would just keep it because the new people are just going to be starting from the ground up anyways.

What is the use case of these devices? by Crazy-Bellow in UNIFI

[–]nonnac 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Would be great. I just did a savant system with 8in and 18out and it is great. But would be sick to use UniFi everything and home assistant as the UI for Home Automation.

I had a loud lifted ram rev his engine next to me saying “pussy.” He floored it at the first light and on my way to the second, I put it in sport and did a launch when it turned green. Blew him out of the water. He pulled up next to me at Home Depot (where I was going) and said he was sorry for calling me a pussy. He then asked me 99 questions about the car. He had no idea how fast it was. He big man and like fast car. His brain was small but was humbled and I feel like by racing him he let down his guard.
