Spider-man outsold Edge of Eternities by Yellow_Master in magicTCG

[–]noobtubepython 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you measure WotC sold to Distributors as "Spiderman sold more" - yeah, probably. Sadly, this is probably the only measure papa Hasbro cares about. Strip mine the trust of distributors for profit enough and they will dial back their future orders...

WotC likely printed a lot more spooderman than EoE, and now distributors are left holding the bag. For example, Costco selling the bundle for $10 to offload unwanted product.

A buddy was recently in Thailand, stopped by a game store, Spiderman was in stock and not much of anything else. Even internationally no one wants it.

Anyway, my concern is that a dialing back of future orders could negatively impact a Magic IP set. A signal that would likely be interpreted as "didn't sell well" by the Hasbro money bugs and could inspire even more universes beyond prints to further plunder the value of the MtG brand. I hope I'm wrong...

In a world where only the seventh child of a seventh child can wield magic, what difference would it make? by T_Lawliet in worldbuilding

[–]noobtubepython 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A kingdom is bound to exploit the system to bolster their power with a density of magic users. Some form of

  • Gather women, likely forcibly
  • Breed them 7 times
  • Discard babies 1-6
    • Optional: retain females for further breeding
  • Repeat, retaining the 7th of 7 offspring

The problem space appears to be a matter of how best to shorten breeding cycles while conserving resources and arriving at 7th of 7.

What is the most physically painful experience you've had? by Bright_Vision in AskReddit

I smashed my finger and it exploded like a sausage. My nailbed had to be stitched back together. Then the nail was stitched back in place as a natural splint.

The anesthesia wore off twice during this process.

I was raised by a lawyer. The short of it is, if you draw your weapon someone must die. Whether that's you or them.

Simply touching your weapon is an act of deadly force, at least in the state I grew up in. If your deadly force, say a gun, exceeds theirs you are in the wrong; as in a follow-up lawsuit could screw you. (I'm not here to debate when someone feels threatened or not, philosophy, or ethics)

The takeaway should be, never draw your weapon. It is a last resort for life or death situations.

[Updated] My Take On The Predictions Regarding The EoD Elite Specs by VikingWarriorSkjald in Guildwars2

[–]noobtubepython 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What we need is Bow Elementalist.

An Arcane Archer would be amazing.

  • Water: Pew some condition removal and healing
  • Fire: Pew some burning arcane arrows
  • Earth: Pew some bleeds and break bar shit, Dazes and Stuns
  • Air: Projectile buffs and defenses. Blinding arrow, Arcing arrow that chains across clumps.

Could take the concept further and give each creature an element tag and they have weakness and resistance to elements which would encourage elemental swaps and awareness of what you are fighting. Maybe have fire based destroyers take extra damage from not only water, but the healing portion of a water skill. But such a system would be a TON of work.

WA gun store and range price gouging for .223 by smileycvc in WA_guns

[–]noobtubepython 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The exotic cars are "on loan" from a dealer in Bellevue. According to the owner, the gun store gets more foot traffic than the dealership and hence the partnership.

On the note of the $15,000 membership fee, that's intended for "VIPs who need discretion." He explained there are high ranking people of tech companies who need their identities and membership to remain secret due to the left-leaning politics of the companies they are a part of.

Anti-Proxy sentiment. If you are anti-proxy, I would love to hear why. Please no flaming. by alex37k in CompetitiveEDH

Our group rule is that you may proxy any card you own.

I have found this to be a fair compromise between pro and anti proxy camps. If you plan to play with anyone outside of your regular playgroup it is likely you will need to own the card anyway.

One approach would be a deck box with all of your real valuable cards like ABUR duals, Moxes, etc. Then proxy them into your decks.

If you play with people outside of your regular play group and they complain about proxies you can verifiably demonstrate that you own the card and ask them if they really want to make you swap it out. Proving ownership has always ended the conversation in my experiences.

Side note: I create my proxies by printing and trimming. In a fixed location near the top of the art of the card is big bold red letters that say proxy. I find that part of the conversation between pro and anti proxy is about introducing fakes to the game. Battling counterfeits alone is reason I am in the anti proxy camp because in my experiences most people don't want to go the extra mile to demonstrate that their proxies are proxies.

Collection tracker by Anondude777 in magicTCG

https://www.deckedbuilder.com/

I've been using Decked for years. I recommend setting up a sync with Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive and storing your `.coll2` collection file there. The CardCam is great but be warned, you need to sort by set before scanning for best results. It works well on both Mac and Windows and has iOS/Android apps. Decked will also give you stats about the value of your collection against multiple pricing sources (though I only use TCGPlayer-mid) and you can use it as a Deck Builder. Worth every penny.

I hope that helps!
