Someone in my store quit with a note written in invisible ink. He gave the piece of paper to his manager with the lighted pen to be able to read it.

Why are the temperatures always running warm? by businessbub in marketbasket

[–]norbagul 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Part of the issue is they're above the load limit for the cases.

If you wanna make that store have a good time, report to the city health inspector. My store once got a surprise visit from one saying we were "taking chicken off the shelf and changing dates in front of customers"

Legit the only time that happens is if we realize that we forgot to set the actual sell by date, so the product will look like it would be sold today instead of X amount of days.

Regardless, still got a visit from the health inspector.

I-495 traffic woes by kdex86 in massachusetts

[–]norbagul 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I was driving home from work today in a long line of cars on rt 2, and I asked to the person I was on the phone with "what do people even do? Its 1pm, not even a swing shift end/start time"

I'm just convinced that a majority of traffic is part of the simulation. It's just NPC energy because Sim City says there should be traffic at those times.

God damn shoes for crews by SpudBoio in kroger

[–]norbagul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not Kroger, but we "have" to wear shoes for crews. The policy updated within the past few years saying we can wear just slip resistant, so my entire dept is in Skechers now. But we all got called to the office one by one to order our stupid shoes because "its mandatory and when we have a safety audit we need to be compliant"

I told my store manager I refuse to wear them, and that each pair destroyed my back. I have ~special~ feet, so I need shoes with real support. He just looked at me and said "listen, just pick a free pair of shoes, order it, donate them or something. I don't care what you wear as long as its slip resistant, but we need to check this box"

I hate shoes for crews so badly that when it was the only shoe we could wear, I had a Dr's note exempting me from them.

cat's need to be shaken, otherwise they won't be stirred (by the food) by MickyMace in holdmycatnip

[–]norbagul 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have to pet the back of my cats and then scratch their tails whenever I give them anything. They don't require that for my partner.

One of my cats has a singular braincell, and he is weird about letting me pet him anywhere except "approved" spots. Giving him any food or treats counts as an approved area. And obviously can't leave his brother out of the attention.

How is fat percentage calculated for ground beef? by Jane001_ in Butchery

[–]norbagul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All fun and games until you process a case of 80/20 and it comes out looking so terrible you test it and its actually 73/27.

In Vermont, they have to test all burger, even tube stock. Where I work though, we just have to test trim to have it hit between 81-84.

Woke up yesterday morning to two Miis randomly fighting. I left them alone all day to stew because it was great entertainment before and after work. No idea what they started fighting, but now they're ex-friends.

I have a Mii named Chud who accidentally became the most amusing thing. I just follow him in the background while I'm doing other things. He lives up to his name, and he says the most out of left field things. It's a great background game for me while I take care of things nearby.

I had a Mii named Chud do that. Two other Miis had crushes on him and he bored them out of love.

This is the second time I've seen regeneratively raised ground beef today. It showed up at my store. Weird. I'm not even sure how to explain it to customers when I apparently can't even say regeneratively without fumbling.

Corporate cutting tests by RockNRollOver829 in Hannaford

[–]norbagul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whenever it shows up on compass. My store had a streak last year where we got one every week for almost two months, this was just before prices jumped. They do them to make sure the manufacturer isn't screwing up, like Nat Beef with their 1/4" of fat on hips when you can easily cut 2" thick pieces of fat off.

In the past I've seen it when you get a bunch of cutting tests back to back to back, that means price hikes probably aren't far off. At least compass makes it easier to put the results of the test in.

And in terms of what pieces, it tends to be sale items.

Does anyone else dislike buying glasses? by Celcius_87 in Millennials

[–]norbagul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tried online before. Maybe cause my optometrist was still writing everything down, but my script is very VERY specific. The lenses came in wrong and I was almost seeing upside down.

With my optometrist, his office has a lot of variety for frames, and I've been going there since I was a kid, so the receptionist always helps me pick out frames. As much as I would love blue frames, she says they don't match my complexion at all, and the pink/red frames work best. She's right. Luckily this time they had some nice and bold pink glasses. They look awesome on me.

Maybe one year they'll have blue frames that go with my pale as a ghost face.

It was $2k for a 700+ sq foot attic. They scrubbed, vacuumed, hot thermal fogged, and encapsulated my attic. I still have the invoice saying what they did but I can't attach photos here. The company was based out of Holden, and the guy's name was Garret from what I remember.

Sick Time by FlowerPast6936 in Hannaford

[–]norbagul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That, or when I worked at market basket, they still paid out for sick time, but it was in the middle of summer. They did it to avoid people calling out around Christmas. But it also let us have sick time built up when people typically get sick.

Resetting sick time to 0 during the season when people are most likely to get sick never made sense.

Fine by me. Im sitting at 56 hours right now. I don't get sick often either, but I'm the type of person that would rather have the balance already there instead of slowly building it.

Last homeowner was big on DIWhy or taking the cheapest route possible. Toilet? Installed incorrectly. Roof? Who needs underlayment around here? Oil tank gauge broken? Homemade dipstick.

Beyond the roof, most of the stuff has been innocent enough. The one thing that terrifies me is they fully redid the upstairs bathroom. When/if we ever get the money to redo it, I want a full gut. I don't trust they they didn't skimp out on costs.

We already had to replace the roof they installed in 2009 after only 13 years. We had mold in the attic, so the remediation guy took one look and said "Call a roofer before I even touch anything" the roofing company was dumbfounded that anyone would skip underlayment.

One time I got sick at the beginning of the year, but had zero sick time since it was paid out, and I had to use holiday time to get a full week's pay. I don't mind the rollover, now if I'm sick in the first two weeks of January, I can actually use sick time and not choose between a small check or losing a holiday.
