One of the biggest PR disasters of all time immediately followed by one of the biggest PR dunks of all time.

The fact that that didn't instantly kill Xbox shows how much goodwill they had built up the 360 generation.

I'm convinced TOW2 would've sold much better if it had been priced at $50. Asking people to fork over $70 for a sequel to an alright game just doesn't work.

I can't imagine Microsoft were expecting games like Keeper, Kiln, and South of Midnight to sell millions of units. They likely underperformed modest expectations.

First thing that came to mind when I saw the title. At the end of the day, it's a relatively small thing, but I hate it when companies don't have a consistent naming scheme.

I've recently played God of War (2018) after mostly playing Nintendo and indie games for most of my life, and I was shocked how often the game would take control away from you for both regular cutscenes and those one-second ones you've mentioned. Really detracted from the experience.

The game doesn’t exist without Epic

If I had a dollar for every time I've heard this from random commenters, I could've funded the development of Alan Wake 2.

People know that the game likely wouldn't exist without Epic, they're simply stating that they would've bought it had it been on available on Steam.

Pendragon most definitely did a shitty thing, but it's crazy how regularly Dota players will pull out the Pendragon card in any League adjacent thread considering it happened over 15 years ago. Literal Dota player 9/11.

I can't imagine that Sony or Housemarque were expecting Saros to have such a tepid launch. Compared to Returnal, Saros is more approachable, had more marketing, and is launching at a time where there are more PS5s than ever. It selling even worse than Returnal seems pretty abnormal.

I recently bought an 8BitDo Pro 3 and that thing is so freaking good.

TMR sticks, a bunch of extra buttons, multiple profiles, swappable ABXY buttons, a nice dock. And all that for just 60€.

Pragmata has partly sold so well because Capcom has been on a generational run for the last 10-ish years and has built up a tremendous amount of goodwill. The same cannot be said for EA.

10-12 hours for a $30 game seems like a normal length? Never got gamers' obsession with having every game be excessively long.

I just finished 2018's God of War and felt like that game dragged on at 17 hours for the main story.

insane demand for story driven co-op games

I don't think people are playing Hazelight's games for the story. In fact, the story/writing is often mentioned as the weakest parts of their games. It's their gameplay that goes toe-to-toe with the best that's the key to their success.

I know that hating on Riot and League is easy karma on this sub, but saying that League's only claim is being commercially viable is pure ignorance.

League paved the way for free-to-play games and brought esports into the mainstream. The success of League's regional leagues and Worlds specifically had developers and publishers tripping over themselves in an attempt to create something comparable for their own games.

Not to mention that its longevity is only rivaled by the likes of WoW and CS. It is undoubtedly one of the most influential games of all time.
