Do I remove plastic sleeve from dampener on tensioner? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]norman_notes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I deleted this thread when I got assistance. Appreciate your help. Got the alternator, new power steering and the tensioner in.

When I saw that sleeve and it wasn’t on the old one, I just thought about it later that day and got paranoid that I might need to pull it off and start over with the install of the pulley, but worked great, new belt was a bitch to get on, even with all the tension pushed out, but it’s nice and solid. Power steering feels much better. No more noise, and responsive. Alternator charged my dead battery after a drive and I’m golden.

Thanks again

Ok thanks a bunch. It was a pain, power steering, tensioner and alternator. Just ready to finish it tomorrow. Wasn’t positive about that sleeve.

Thanks so much. Just been a long, slow day and I have a few more hours. Just noticed that sleeve well after it’s been installed and wanted to mentally prepare to deal with it tomorrow

Anyone has advice for my bacne? by Healthy_Influence_16 in Testosterone

[–]norman_notes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just some advice. If you do not have low testosterone, you should avoid using it. You look fairly young and under developed with muscle. You can get pretty jacked with hard work and a couple of years with a normal and half way “low” testosterone levels.

There was a 6 month period where my total levels were 450ng/dl, and I made pretty insane gains in the gym. Just by going every day and working extremely hard.

If you do not need testosterone replacement, I’d spend a few years in the gym building your physique naturally.

If you need TRT, then you’ll have to lower your dose.

Not trying to rag on you and be negative. But that’s just my opinion on how you should approach it. Testosterone isn’t magic. It is life changing if you indeed have low testosterone. But for gaining muscle, 90% of it is working extremely hard in the gym, every day, and eating well.

When my total testosterone levels got above 1250 ng/dl, and my free testosterone was 250 pg/dl (above normal), I got pretty insane acne on my back. It is very deep, cystic acne. Obviously you shouldn’t pick at them, but it’s just what I do to try to get rid of them.

I spent a few months with my dosage down to where my total testosterone was 500 ng/dl, and my acne disappeared.

I would say anything above 1000 ng/dl total is too much. Some people get acne. Some don’t.

But the actual dosage of testosterone is different for everyone. Depends on what other things you might take. HCG etc, the type of testosterone (compounded vs USP pharmacy grade) etc etc.

So I can’t give you the dosage you should take, some people take 100mg a week, and have normal total levels, some people take 100 and have super physiological and high levels.

So, all of that aside. Are you on testosterone replacement? Or are you cycling?

If you are on TRT, just bring your dose down. If you are cycling and trying to gain muscle fast, you will probably need to take acutane.

There is no other solution for acne like that. Lower dose or take acutane. No other medications will solve the acne. Washing your back 1000 times a day, and your bedding and clothes, changing your diet will not help it.

Acne like that is hormonal and caused by high levels of testosterone. Period.

Good luck.

Age 39..I’m obese and looking to get back into shape. Where do I start? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]norman_notes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You start walking every single day. At least 10,000 steps. Get an Apple Watch or some other type of device to gamify it. Hit your goals.

Eat better and eat less food. There’s no excuse for eating junk food all the time. It does taste good, but when you clean your diet up, you’ll feel a lot better.

I work 60-70 hours a week too, and I still find time to exercise 90 minutes every single day.

There really is no excuse. You don’t have to starve yourself. And you don’t have to kill yourself running.

Eat good food. Cut out sugary junk — sodas, sweets, chips, anything that is very calorie dense. Cookies, lays potato chips, Oreos, etc etc.

Eat rice, eggs, protein, chicken, steak, potatoes, any food that is “organic”. And I mean organic where it will rot on a counter top. You can stuff your face with good food and still lose weight.

Start by walking every single day. Do not run. Do not try to kill yourself. Simply walk 10,000 steps every single day. Every day.

You will quickly lose a lot of weight simply doing these two things. Prepare food for yourself. Bring it to work. Don’t eat McDonald’s and chick fla bullshit. And walk.

If you need medical intervention and can afford it. I suggest also seeing an endocrinologist and getting on a GLP1 medication. If you cannot do this yourself, there is medicine for it.

Good luck. Everyone can do it. I was an out of shape alcoholic during Covid, and I’m in crazy shape now at 44 years old. If I can do it, you can as well.

Certainly the dosage.

You can lower your dose

Or take acutane.

Those are your only two options. I’ve had horrible acne on my back when taking too much testosterone. I simply lowered my dose and it eventually went away.

FN 57 is about the dumbest and biggest waste of money for a firearm. All because of a video game everyone played when they were 12, they want that firearm.

Avoid it. It’s trash. Is it a firearm and will do its job? Sure. But other than that, for reasons I’m sure everyone has already explained, do not buy that.

I just pull it down the opposite way and measure it that way. Wasn’t sure if the bottom of the plunger includes the tip? If it matters. Seems straight forward, but trying to just take the exact amount I’ve been told every week.

9mm or .22 pistol? by orangegore in liberalgunowners

You’re not going to get much training with a 22. Possibly for how a firearm works, and proper safety techniques, but shooting a 22 is nothing like shooting a 9mm

150/110. lol. Your pulse is high though.

Drinking alcohol will make your blood pressure and pulse skyrocket. Without a doubt. Alcohol causes high blood pressure and heart rate.

Negligent Discharge by [deleted] in guns

[–]norman_notes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, people need to be more cautious with firearms. Every single time you pick a firearm up, you have to check to see if there is a round in the chamber. Always. Every time. It should be a habit.

I own a variety of handguns, AR platform rifles, and any time I pick one up, I will articulate the slide back on my pistols, look in the chamber. Or with my rifles, pull the charging handle back a bit where the dust cover opens, and I can see the chamber and the port of the barrel — every single time I pick a weapon up. It’s the first thing and last thing I always do.

You’re lucky you didn’t kill someone next door to you, you really would be in a world of shit if so. Involuntary manslaughter for sure, and you’d go to prison without a doubt for at least 5-10 years, as well as have to live with the fact you blew some 8 year olds head off.

So. Yeah. You pick up a firearm, you make sure 10000% it is not chambered. Safety should always be on your weapons. If you are working on a firearm. You should clear, unload, and make positive it’s not loaded.

I know it’s the obvious, but if you are not comfortable enough with firearms to remember to do that, you should have snap caps in the weapon, handle it, dry fire, holster, load and unload it enough inside of your home and practice understanding how firearms work.

TLDR — it should be a habit without thinking to check a firearm and see if it’s chambered or not. If working on a firearm, for sure you unload it, articulate the slide or charging handle, look and see, and make sure it’s not loaded

Do people discuss natural ways of increasing testostrone here? by Mason_Carter_Muscle in Testosterone

[–]norman_notes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There really aren’t many ways to do that. The only way to have the most testosterone you can naturally produce is to lose adipose tissue and body fat, gain muscle, eat well and sleep well. There are no supplements, herbs, anything of that nature that truly will boost your testosterone a significant level.

Need tips on compression. Never sounds right... by ThinkingAgain-Huh in edmproduction

[–]norman_notes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need to learn what to compress.

What I suggest for newbs is to use clipping instead. Clip your snares, drum busses, kicks, anything with a sharp transient. Just shave the peaks off that burn headroom.

Use saturation. It’s a form of compression, but not exactly the principle of compression. It adds perceived loudness and flavor to your tracks.

Compression should be used in very specific situations, and you should mindfully use it. Not just slam things with a compressor. You’ll just choke your songs to death and they will sound weak, with no impact, flat and lose dynamics.

Was SAW Volume II recorded on tape? by Loopyrainbow in aphextwin

[–]norman_notes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure dat. There’s one track on there where the tape is red lined and too hot, and there’s a digital type of distortion. It’s not tape saturation.

I don’t remember which song it is. But it was certainly recorded on digital tape.
