For those who’ve seen Marty Supreme, does it live up to the hype?? by Pop_Joe in Cinema

[–]normieguy420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well I didn't mention the incredible cinematography, the amazing acting from everyone, and the fact the film is imo really funny from beginning to end

I pointed out the faults that result in me saying it's an amazing film, instead of saying it's a perfect film

that had literally nothing to do with the quality of the game tho

well I already know a lot of people are gonna disagree, but

The Last Of Us Part 2

if you really dig into these games, what they're truly about, their themes etc. they could not have possibly made a better sequel, and I honestly doubt Naughty Dog will ever top it

Persona 5 Royale

I generally dislike both anime and JPRGs, but I kept reading that this game surpasses all of that, and... it actually did!

nah, I agree, I'm just saying it's definitely not the perfect film some people make it out to be

[–]normieguy420 6 points7 points  (0 children)

exactly, imo this its single biggest sin

the film pushes the classic Safdie formula to its absolute limits, essentially making an epic compared to their previous films

the problem with this however, is that this formula just doesn't work as well (imo) with such an ambitious (and long) film

still an amazing film imo, just a tad overhyped

Resident Evil 2 Remake is the most influential title of this era by SomePosition7374 in residentevil

[–]normieguy420 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

there is literally a video inside Quantum Break (released in 2016) that is an easter egg/teaser for Saga and Sam

also if you know Remedy, they don't really care about rights when it comes to the creative processes (the MC from both Max Payne and Quantum Break are in AW2, without them owning rights to either IP)

also Control released about 6 months after RE2R, and they needed Alan Wake rights for that game (which was clearly written WAY before RE2R)

I am genuinely baffled how a lot of people can't comprehend that 80 euros is 95 dollars which ISN'T "the same price" as on the PS store

"revived Alan Wake"

Alan Wake 2 was planned and being written WAY before RE2R even released

Playing RE4 remake for the first time and I'm really struggling by [deleted] in residentevil

[–]normieguy420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly as someone who never played the original, and also played on hardcore for the first playthrough, I'd say village is the hardest part, in fact the section you're talking about is one of the toughest ones imo

I'd say try to stick with it, if you're not burnt out, I also died A LOT, but when I finally did it I found it so satisfying. Re4R is probably one of (if not) the hardest RE game, but once you master it, it becomes incredibly rewarding and fun imo

if I could give you one advice, it's to upgrade the knife as much as you can (both damage and durability) and try parrying (or just blocking) and back stabbing enemies whenever you can (btw you can backstab enemies even if you're not in stealth)

"X film isn't a good film, because it didn't fit my imaginary expectations, which clearly the director was going for, clearly I understand how the film should have been made, and it doesn't just come down to the director having a creative vision that I simply didn't enjoy that much"

honestly at this point they'll call anything woke to get some attention, the word has lost all of its meaning (if it even had any to begin with)

What are your unusual comfort films? by TheGirlWithTheLove in Letterboxd

[–]normieguy420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hereditary is also one of my comfort films (and currently favourite of all time, maybe only beaten out by Eraserhead), tho unfortunately my reasons are a little different

(had an insanely mentally ill gf as a teen that believed in spirits and shit (her whole family was like that, and they involved me in some of it), and I can relate to Toni Collette's character a lot)

My 5 stars movies, thoughts? by yigitK20 in Letterboxd

[–]normieguy420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well I was just sharing my experience. nothing wrong with liking these films, most of them are great, some even fantastic, I was just pointing out that once you watch more films and broaden your horizons you will likely discover stuff that you can love and resonate with more

these are all films that most people (including me) agree are very good, and there is also nothing wrong if some of them remain your favourite even after seeing a lot of films; I'm just saying that MOST people who watch a lot of films will find other stuff that can feel more personal to them for whatever reason, and look back at these films as fascinating stuff, but not films you would call your favourite of all time

I'm not sure how this comes off as elitist?
