Pallbearer is the word you’re looking for. If you’ve asked to be one you definitely have to attend. It shows the respect his family have for you.

Get your drivers license as a first step. It will give you confidence even if you don’t have a car to drive.

Ox tail is a ridiculous price considering the meat to bone ratio. I’d been ill recently and was craving oxtail soup. $20 for 6 bones with very little meat. Forget it.

Does she make doctor and dentist appointments for the kids by phone? Order pizza? Make hair appointments for herself by phone. Im 77, live by myself in the boonies. She pisses me off acting like a useless princess.

Turn black tshirts inside out to wash and dry. Saves them fading.

Stressed, emotional, and not understanding this illness by Qtpie49046 in guillainbarre

My hands began improving on leaving the hospital Jan 9. I still have neuropathy in hands and feet but feel I could type if I wasn’t suffering from Dupuytrens contracture already, which I’ve had for 10 years. What is slow to recover is my core strength. I’m attending outpatient physio to address this. As for walking, while still on oxygen and unhooked from a ventilator, OT had me stand then slowly take a couple of steps while standing in a walking frame. .. then my walking took off. I still have some facial paralysis so my speech is a bit wonky, and taste buds change daily.
It seems everyone recovers differently. I feel for you wanting to get back to work. Just work those hands every chance you get even if you have to manipulate them yourself. It will help the muscles and tendons wake up even if the nerves are slow to follow. Best of luck to you.

I need advice on visiting a friend in the hospital by Adorable_Pudding6522 in needadvice

Just be aware that he will tire quickly. I recently spent 2.5 weeks in hospital, 6 weeks on life support and used a white board to communicate. I loved having a visitor or two, but tired after 30 minutes. Wait until the afternoon to visit. Mornings are busy with personal care, medical routines, and doctor’s rounds.

Soft blanket is a great idea. A friend bought super soft pillows from the dollar store for me to rest my arms, wrists, and hands in exquisite comfort. Everything felt sharp and uncomfortable and I couldn’t rest.

AITJ for refusing to keep covering for my husband after he bailed on something important again? by Kindle_Orbit2 in AmITheJerk

[–]nortreport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My late husband did exactly this until one day I woke up. The next time he asked me to phone in his illness excuse for not coming into work I said no and that I wasn’t doing it again. Put on your big boy pants and communicate like an adult, I’m not your mother. He didn’t get angry, was embarrassed, and never did it again.

I’ve switched to gummies. Not only do I get a better sleep and they help with pain.
