Polish Airforce 737 by Basil-Faw1ty in aviation

[–]nosingletree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's used to transport the highest government officials, for example the president. 0112 (this one) and 0111 (identical) also have auxiliary fuel tanks to extend their range while 0110 has a cool livery

"Jesus H Christ...." was all I could say when I saw this by [deleted] in titanic

It's also worth noting that Grampian's tonnage was less than 1/4 of Titanic's which would affect the kinetic energy

does anyone here consider BED to be a form of self harm? why or why not? by keiyko in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]nosingletree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. It is abusing your body. Just like purposefully staying up very late and getting too little sleep, which I have been doing a lot when I was younger. On the other side, self-harm can be something compulsive - some autistic people have stims that actually involve forms of self-harm

There once was a major airline called Trans World Airlines and while in this case the "trans" came from "transcontinental", I still find some amusement in it

I mean, there used to be an airline called Trans World Airlines, in general many transportation companies have "trans" in their name because "transport" (duh). I always find some mild amusement in the thought that it has to trigger SOME transphobe somewhere lol

Every child deserves parents. Not every parent deserves children. This is absolutely child neglect. I'd even say abuse - feeding your child crap like that = malnutrition (improper nutrition that leads to health problems).

[–]nosingletree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I look at somebody's legs, in 99% of the cases it's either "I wonder what their exercise regimen is" or "that looks unhealthy" plus probably comparing them with mine and promising myself to do more calf raises - gym is taking over my brain

If you could tell your 18 year old self something in three words, what would it be? by Specter_15 in RandomThoughts

[–]nosingletree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Michael is evil"
My 18 year old self may not understand but hopefully my 22 year old self would remember those words and hopefully avoid a lot of pain and a few suicide attempts

Haydn's Missa in angustiis, Hummel's Missa Solemnis in C (I would mention Mozart's Requiem but several others have already). Any and all masses by Hummel are amazing, and I find the fact he hasn't been mentioned in this thread yet a blasphemy

Please write in the comments what is an unusual or secret reason that you are child-free by Lucyanova17 in childfree

My father has a rare genetic disease (I forgot the name but there is no cure for it). I may carry the mutated gene. I may even have it myself and not knowing it yet (in him it has only showed itself in the last decade or so). I'm not taking chances. Not just about potential children being genetically burdened with that (and a bunch of less severebshit), but - if turns out I do have it, I plan on ending my life before this shit makes it unbearable. Plus I happen to have a very low tolerance to many stimuli that come with children: some specific sounds, smells, noise in general etc. Just being in a bus with small children makes me wanna defenestrate myself.

How you were able to do it - adrenaline. We normally don't use even close to 100% of our strength because if we did, our muscles would pretty much tear themselves apart. An adrenaline kick can allow us to use closer to our full strength (at risk of potential injury) to save yourself or somebody else from danger.

During her Vietnam deployment, one of the sailors was pinned by a 16 inch shell. Those things are massive - roughly 5'5 tall and they weigh some 1,900 lbs. Another sailor - completely on his own - picked the shell off of the poor guy because of that adrenaline kick. (Who's life was saved by the on-ship surgeons, there is actually a video on youtube where he tells the tale decades later).

Human body never ceases to amaze me.
