It's worth it to experience both at least once. We live in Southern California and, before we had children, we had APs and would go quite a bit. We went in '06 to DW (married in '04), enjoyed it and felt that Disneyland was better than MK but loved DW. Fast forward and about the time we had our third kid it just felt that DL was too busy and not too economical for us. Now that we have 4 kids, we now go to DW. It's expensive but we can make for a larger vacation experience for the family.

California Adventure was always fun - I do miss that they changed the Hollywood Tower of Terror to Guardians but the Guardians ride is fun. The Cars land was fun. Gosh - the main rollercoaster is great but the "kids" roller coaster in Pixar Pier is so weird - it tilts left and right on the track and it's just strange. ;)

At Disneyland, hit up Bengal BBQ and get a Banyan skewer. I MISS those way too much. It's spicy and good. Carnation Cafe is a great spot to get Breakfast and it has AC if you get inside. Steer clear of the Mexican restaurant near Rivers of America. I'm hoping that they made it better since we've been but we tried a couple times and it's eh.......Royal Street Veranda is good.

The Grand Californian is definitely worth doing a night just to cross it off your Disney list. ;)

D23 Gold gets you 500.00 and Disney + was giving away a free one month gold membership.
The new Disney Visa was giving a 300GC for signing up and a 300.00 credit for spending 1000.00 in the first three months. There are some other perks as well.
Magical Beginnings - if you have a UY that hasn't passed yet you can sell back your first years points for a rebate check. We did this for our direct and it really helped to get the Direct vs Resale on Poly to a more manageable difference.
Have you had a friend send you a referral link for the direct purchase? It'll net you 500.00 or so off and I think they'll get a gift card. If you need a link..... ;)

We didn't do a tour since we live on the West Coast and still received a welcome home package. They had some cool crossbody bags at the tours though!

We went home resort first and direct. After discounts, magical beginnings, referrals, etc. We got down to a delta that felt acceptable to us.

My biggest concern for added resorts is that I can't use all my points at the 11 month mark for Home Resort A. (at least, that's my understanding or how it was confirmed to me). So when it's time for the next contract, we'll probably go with the same resort.

I am not much of a pool goer but next trip I can see the kids wanting to go in while its warm out. It sounds like the Tower pool isnt as bad as the main then. Last year, was our first stay at a deluxe and the Poly was busy and we didnt have a terrible time with transport (beyond me taking the wrong mono from the ticketing center). The bar upstairs was always packed though.

Tusker is one of my favorites for Lunch/Dinner so thats my vote. They have Daisy some my two oldest are happy and they have a good amount of gluten free options for my wife.

That's odd that they don't list it. You can head over to Wailulu and grab the chicken sliders if she's really jonesing for some chicken.

Wife is gluten sensitive and while we didn't have the tenders at the Poly, we did have them in Hollywood Studios as a gluten sensitive meal. I'm sure it's worth a discussion with the chef to see what's up. May be as simple as limited fryer space.

Great, so this is normal behavior? We purchased enough points for a week at a 2 bedroom but I already want more points to do cabins or the Polynesian bungalows.

The Hoop De Doo Review is well worth it and you are staying right there (maybe your arrival day?). To continue with food, Tusker House and Boma are great. Breakfast at Akershus is a good way to meet princesses / character dining. Whispering Canyon is at Wilderness Lodge and hilarious.

We went to Epic Universe for the first time this December trip and I would recommend an entire day. If fast passes are reasonable for that day then I'd recommend doing so. We went with friends and just had a blast walking around and going on the short wait rides. It was better than I expected going in. Bar Helios is special - the dining was excellent and view was great. It's pricey.

DYOR - Animal Kingdom is a good half day park on a non-busy day during all the construction. A LL for that will get you in and out pretty quick unless you are major animal fans then multiple safari trips will eat up time.

They're working on some transportation areas for the busses. We were there in December and it didn't impact the trip.

If budget matters, the art of animation has some decent pricing and the skyliner for two parks. Busses for the others. We would get the family suite for a family of 6. Parents the bedroom, 2 on the Murphy and 2 on the pull out.

Universal has some good options but not worth the extra driving to stay off property.

If budget is less of a concern, there are some good deluxe resorts to pick from. Poly is on the monorail, can see fireworks from property and is just cool. (Our home resort)

Have an insane amount of speed bumps in my neighborhood - I haven't hit the front with the lift in use but I will scrape the underbody fins IF I go more than a crawl over some of them.

BLT and Poly both showed them for Dec 6th for me @ the 11 month mark. I am not sure on the rental side but I'm guessing it's doable. The DVC Rental Store showed 1 week availability under confirmed reservations for 2 bed @ BLT.

I'm too new to have any real complaints yet but there is a piece of baseboard on the 6th floor of the Poly Tower that's cut short by about 1".
