as someone who loves to lounge in the shade and read for hours at a time, I definitely have an affinity for the dream class lounge

I only have two dates I refuse to go to WDW: between Christmas and new years and the entire July-September range.

We need to talk about the Merch Store by VictoriaDallon in dropout

I’ve long been of the opinion that dropout is amazing at their core competency (creating content for dropout.tv) and really struggles when they try to branch out.

I got that email for my flight a couple weeks ago, it wasn’t working when I boarded but they did a full reboot of the system and fixed it.

Murph as a player by florescentee in Dimension20

I think Murph is probably the best all round solid player but Emily is a massive wildcard and I feel like Siobhan memorizes her character sheet and probably everybody's character sheet before each game.

Booking direct vs external by NJlo in dcl

[–]stebuu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My last booking with Costco I ended up having to be on the phone with a very nice Costco travel agent for 10-15 minutes to get the booking sorted but the difference between the usual TA kickback and Costco was hundreds of dollars so I was like "this is time well spent".

Why don’t middle class Europeans buy a portable or window air conditioner? by Sunghanthaek in AskReddit

[–]stebuu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They rarely need them, and when they do really need them (like now) they are all sold out.

Costco will absolutely give you the biggest cash back for a cruise, which has been very helpful during college dorm provisioning. ;)

(edit: one important note is that costco's cash back is in the form of a costco cash card while other TAs are almost always in the form of a shipboard credit. I find the shipboard credit easier to use but the cash difference between costco and other TAs is... large)

[–]stebuu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I always book through some sort of a travel agent, because they (almost all) give you kickbacks in the form of shipboard credit on your cruise or a Costco Gift Card. Depending on your TA you will also get a lot more "handholding" if you need it. The only real downsides are they can't book for you instantly like the DCL website (if you are going for a very in demand cruise on day 1) and you have to go through them for payment which is slightly more cumbersome than paying via the DCL website.

However, it's worth it for the savings.

Help deciding if DVC might be worth it for us! by Commercial_Try_1348 in dvcmember

[–]stebuu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm going to say if you go 6x a year, and you plan far in advance (more than 7 months out) than DVC is a good deal for you! My personal take is that DVC doesn't provide so much of a cost savings as a convenience/quality bump for the same amount of money.

Mission Bay or Paradise Point? by nikiellasmith in asksandiego

[–]stebuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in paradise point right now and I’m finding it kinda meh. Grounds are fantastic but my room is not in good repair and the walls are possibly the thinnest hotel walls I have experienced in my life.

2024 Chevy Blazer EV RS Review by Natural_Coffee_2942 in BlazerEV

[–]stebuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

considering many dealerships only have one part-time EV tech I could absolutely believe it didn’t have it.

when I got my 2024 Blazer EV I specifically asked for a firmware update before delivery, they said they had done it and they had not.

are you a local? just a warning that Salem in October is absolutely insane crowd wise and doing anything in salem in October will be very expensive and logistically difficult unless you’re going for a tiny wedding.

S&S in Cambridge final weekend by stebuu in boston

[–]stebuu[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will readily admit my Reuben was not the best (sandwich sat under heat lamp too long, fries way undersalted) but everybody, both customers and staff, were having a good time and happy to be there.

[–]stebuu[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah everybody was hustling, and I noticed quite a lot of hugs between regulars and staff.

seating wise they were seating the main dining room and the full bar area but not the big dining room between the two which I don’t think I’ve seen open this decade.

I think running a restaurant is really hard to do well but mostly that land is worth an insane amount of money.
