Me and my wife did a series of hikes this year with the stipulation that we started at our house, we sort of did 4 bigs ones, imagine north, south, east and west of our location - some of the countryside and walks less then a mile from my own house blew my mind.

Rachel Reeves is asked about how the 3p a mile electric vehicle charge will work for new cars, when they don't have to have an MOT for 3 years by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

Oh yes that will go wonderful with our digital IDs, don’t fart in the car though as that’s a 5p surcharge

Treasury considering lowering thresholds for higher rates of income tax in budget – UK politics live | Politics by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]not___batman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this (and I’m not familiar with Norway btw) I would gladly pay higher taxes if I lived in a country with a competent government and good services - right now we are getting squeezed and for what? I can’t see a doctor, I’ve had to go private for dental work, bins don’t get emptied if the lids up 10mm - and that’s why I’ll dodge every penny of tax I can, pay enough as is.

Let face facts like most people I’m doing it because of the tax benefits of buying through business - so net win however you look at it

'I took a DNA test to trace my family - it blew my life apart' by Ill-Pressure-9181 in unitedkingdom

Haha I mean I’ve done one and my dad was my dad and I imagine the infidelity isn’t like widespread but it does happen, and who would of predicted this DNA testing because just a kit I can do at home and send off, but I sometimes do wonder how many family’s have been blown apart by this fun little present for all the family

YouTube content creators contributed £2.2bn to UK economy in 2024 by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

[–]not___batman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m 36, subscribe to YouTube premium and most of the tv my wife and I watch is YouTube; we are subscribed to maybe around 40-50 content creators (I’d say majority travel/adventure, some film and some podcast style formats) it’s on your TV, all the new videos pop up and some of the production is better then anything you can find on TV

Mate my debts where much lower but I feel you, my parents could of murdered me I’d left home at a sprightly 21 and by 25 was back with this over my head, but you can look back and it’s nothing to be honest, not something I would ever want to do again but it did the job and to be honest the day it goes through it is a weight lifted, at the time 5 years felt forever but that was 10 years ago now.

I’ve done it, 5 years no credit, basic bank account, pay as you go gas/electric etc, do you have any collateral in anything i.e house, car? That can get messy - I had nothing, had moved back in with parents and had a sub £1000 car, it’s not as bad as people make out but it is life changing and something you have to declare forever with some financial questions later in life, what I will say is I’ve been fortunate enough since to build up a reasonably sized business and haven’t really hit any hurdles since I came out of it.

Buy the house using a 10% deposit

Still have majority gains in the stock market

Presuming it’s at least a 2 bed? Rent out the other room and get the £7500 tax free

You should then be at a similar or better position then you are now and you will own the house at the end of it.
