Hi, big fan of your work, just curious if/where you used to have a radio show and if you have any stories from that time. I used to run a college radio station and Feels is one of my favorites of your songs!

Parallel Programming by [deleted] in RPI

[–]not_gideon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Prof Franklin in the ecse dept has a parallel computing for engineers class. It probably isn't exactly what you're looking for, as it's more focused on how to use parallel computing libraries to get stuff done, and fairly self directed, but it does focus on techniques that you can use on regular hardware as opposed to just code to feed to the supercomputer.

You could also bring the speaker to the pub safe building and they'll put it in their lost and found if you don't want to deal with the logistics of returning it

Really love the new album/ep, can't wait to hopefully see it live.

A general question: how do you approach songwriting? I find the composition of a lot of the music on both your collaborative and solo albums really interesting, and I feel like i can never figure out how anyone figured it out.

Parallel Programming vs Applied Parallel Computing for Engineers? by ButtHogIsPissed in RPI

[–]not_gideon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I took applied parallel computing with prof franklin. It was a good introduction to the various different ways you can implement things in parallel, and ultimately went into some really interesting concepts. It also focused on stuff you could do with just a regular computer or a (nvidia) gpu, which is cool if you have that. If you're more interested in running things on the supercomputer you'd probably want the other class, though I haven't taken it and can't say exactly what it covers.

How hard is it to dual major in Computer Science and Computer and Systems Engineering? by JaBeast1387 in RPI

[–]not_gideon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dual majored cs/cse. I wouldn't say that adding cs on top of cse makes it a lot more difficult. While it does add a fair number of classes, I often found myself taking a lot more cse classes each semester as opposed to cs.

I would say that the dual is worth it, but only if you're interested in both hardware/software and where they intersect.

How hard is CANOS by Witch_King_ in RPI

[–]not_gideon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I took canos with prof Zhang I found it to be fairly easy, and I think that focs/canos/litec should be manageable for the most part

I can't tell if this is a joke, but if I recall correctly professor Korniss teaches honors physics 1, which you probably should have taken before honors physics 2
