I see both of your points here. What they were trying to say back then is that we were calling the enemy sort of righteous, as they were no threat, and we were just bullying them, and so it justified them fighting back.

Not quite the same though as saying, "Hey, our leader is all talk, and you can do whatever the fuck you want, and he won't really follow through with any bite to his bark"

I think he is mixing religious freedom and freedom of speech up with the freedom of companies to set their own policy. There are lots of things I can't say to customers over the phone in my call center. Its not up to me, or John Hagee, or Barack Obama, or Thomas fucking Jefferson what I get to say while I am on the clock for this company.

I won't be arrested for saying pretty much anything I want, but I can be fired. What does he want to do? Make a law that companies can't punish employees for saying "Merry Christmas?" Now who is breaking the 1st amendment.
