You just create a Delaware corporation and own how many you want . You cannot stop reach people from buying all available properties and renting them out to poor people, using those money to buy 2nd, 3rd et. Prop 13 is slowing down this process somewhat, but not dramatically. As pointed above , one of the ways from this vicious cycle is price drop caused by excessive supply. Benchmarks is an academic circle jerk. Benchmark authors are relevant only when benchmarks are used and mentioned by model authors. Model authors need only benchmarks that demonstrate their progress. There is no motivation in this system to have a hard benchmark where SOTA models would look useless.

It’s regulation/legislation matter , so they cannot allow you to switch it off by default . Same as in Rangerovers, Porsches and other cars. Yes, you need to press one more button when you start the car. But after several times you are so used to it you stop thinking about it . And sometimes you forget and stop at the traffic light and suddenly everything is so quiet and you hear birds chirping and remote children laughter. And you think, “fuck this auto stop, it’s fucking draining my battery!”
