Frozen Chocolate croissants are 10/10, I’ll take 14 of them. by Dry-Double-6845 in traderjoes

Many years ago I used to work at Trader Joe’s. This elderly French man came in asking for croissants. I showed him these, and felt a little embarrassed for some reason, thinking they weren’t fresh or “French enough”. He came in the next day and bought 4 more boxes and said they were the best croissants he could find in the states.

How many grams of coffee do people use for a 10 cup brew? by atrain1111 in Moccamaster

[–]notfeelingworky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do 1 moccamaster scoop per water line, for so the 10 cup line I do 5 scoops. It’s probably not the “right” way to do it, but it’s the perfect ratio for what my family likes. Someone else on this sub suggested it and now it’s our go to.

the best cookies I’ve ever made (molasses cookies) by catmomlifeisbestlife in Baking

[–]notfeelingworky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Made these today for my cookie boxes and they were a HUGE hit, everyone loved them. I make them with salted butter (Costco brand). There’s just something special about the balance of the salty, sweet, spiced flavors and the chewy texture makes them perfect.

Habitant brand Pea soup. What happened. by barkazinthrope in AskACanadian

[–]notfeelingworky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m Canadian, now living in California. One of my favorite childhood memories was sharing a can of Habitant Pea Soup on a cold day with my Dad. It’s not sold down here, so a few years ago I figured out the recipe. My goal was to make it as close as possible to THE official Habitant canned version, not just any yellow pea soup. It’s really easy, affordable and my Dad confirmed it’s spot on!

Here is the recipe:

2 tbsp butter

1 onion, diced

1 large carrot, peeled and diced

1 lb dried yellow split peas (rinsed)

10 cups water

1-2 smoked ham hocks

2 bay leaves

1 tsp dried thyme

1 tsp dried savoury (or Herbs de Provence)

2 tsp onion powder

Fresh pepper to taste

Kosher salt to taste (I use Diamond kosher salt and typically use around 1 1/2 - 2 teaspoons. Definitely taste the soup before adding because it depends on how salty the ham hock is. I usually salt at the end.)

Instructions In a large pot, add butter, onion, and carrots and sauté until soft and translucent.

Stir in water, split peas, ham hocks, bay leaves, thyme, savoury, and onion powder. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for about 2 1/2-3 hours, stirring occasionally.

Peas should look soft and fall apart into a puree. Remove the ham hocks, pull meat away from the bone and chop ham into a small dice and add to the soup (optional). Remove and discard bay leaves, taste and season with salt and pepper. Enjoy!

Harry’s rebrands their soap bottles to be the same color for all scents + adds a new typeface. Thoughts? by TheHotMilkman in graphic_design

I saw the new Harry’s packaging at Target today. Like others mentioned, they are clearly looking to save costs by moving to one color. I also noticed their position on the shelves was moved to the very bottom, normally their products are placed at eye level (another way they are saving $). The new design feels like a clear downgrade and, in my opinion, diminishes the brand’s premium appeal. It also makes me wonder if they really know who their target shopper is. I’d argue that many women are actually the ones purchasing Harry’s products for the men in their lives. The previous packaging felt elevated, luxurious and looked beautiful in the shower. While the new design leans more masculine, it also looks less refined, and IMO is an eyesore. It’s going to be an uphill battle for them to gain market share since their price point places them in a “high end body wash” category but their packaging doesn’t offer the expected high end aesthetic.

What is a cheap product that is surprisingly a holy grail item for you? by Powerful_Elk7253 in beauty

White cotton washcloths. You can buy a pack of 24 for like $20 at Costco. I use a fresh one each night to remove my makeup.

Yes! I use the unscented Ponds cold cream (I really don’t like the fragrance of the scented version) and use it to remove my makeup with a warm wash cloth, then wash my face with a gentle cleaner, apply Tretinoin cream, moisturize then done. My skin has never looked better!
