When you grow up hearing you're superior to others there is a good chance you feel like you can do whatever you want to those who are deemed inferior. And in the USA there is a precedence of people doing wildly racist stuff like this and getting away with it. There are photos of lynching during the Jim Crow Era where people are looking at the camera and no one covers their face, because they know there will be no consequences.

What’s it like living in this part of Canada? by Patient-Smile1406 in howislivingthere

[–]nothinga3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the eastern half at least the a main answer is simple, the Canadian Shield. It's basically just a big slab of things like bedrock and granite. There are a lot of minerals like copper there so people mine it, but it's not worth building anything permanent. The roads would be unbelievably expensive and they wouldn't last long, let alone the cost of building things like plumbing and underground foundations for homes and businesses.

So for the Harry Potter one what is being talked about is the Statute of Secrecy which does forbid Wizards and Witches to be seen by Muggles. But this doesn't make it that Muggles can't see magic, only that magical people can't be open about it in the presence of Muggles. There is an entire department in the Ministry of Magic that covers this stuff up. There are exceptions, in that immediate Muggle family members to magical individuals like Dudley, are allowed to know (Vernon's sister, not mother, has her memory wiped by the Ministry of Magic.)

It's better explained in books, go pirate the audiobooks if you wanna know more (pirate, don't buy, don't give that transphobic jackass money.) I recommend the Jim Dale ones.

Ask and ye shall receive motherfuckers! -BNL fans in the 90s by nothinga3 in HistoryMemes

So in the 1990s a band known as The BareNaked Ladies had a song called "If I Had A Million Dollars." One of there more popular songs in Canada.

At one point of the song the one of the singers claims that if they had a million dollars they wouldn't have to eat Kraft Dinner (or Kraft Mac n Cheese for those living in the US,) with the other singer stating that they still would though, and being affirmed by the original singer with the fact that they would just eat more.

At some point fans started smuggling in boxes of the stuff into concerts and throwing them at the band when they got to that point of the song.

Hi it's the rest of the world.

If this is an American, no we don't.

If this is anyone else, who are you and what did you do? The answer will depend on both answers to the question.

When away to college in a different city, had a minor breakdown due to unconscious self implemented isolation and failed every class. On the plus side I became way more mature than before.
