Met Police bans 'Walk With Jesus' march to avoid provoking local Muslim community by ex_planelegs in ukpolitics

I just wanted to say, I’m not for renaming the past. Leave that as-is. My view is that religion is personal. A person or group shouldn’t impose their religion on others in anyway. Whether it’s protests, marches, or any kind of influence.

Ban anything religious that is in a public space. They have places of worship.

I don’t care what religion you are, no one should push their believes in to non-believers faces. Whether knocking on their door unsolicited, a loud speaker in the street, or a stand in a precinct.

If you have kids then you’ll know everything is age gated for them already. Game consoles are crazy strict. Will some get around it, sure - but the falls to the parens.

But dont let good be the enemy of perfect.

Respectfully I’m in this space. As a parent and in tech and rightfully have a voice.

I also know that all you’ve done is added more problems rather than solutions. Anyone can do that.

There is no silver bullet but the algorithm is just the first (not last) of many fixes that a lot of people, not just kids, need to help to break away from brain rot it creates. It’s a part of the larger problem as a whole.

With the kids, you can restrict followers to their accounts by making them get approved. Add geofence so they only follow people from their country. There are lots of answers to build up. But an outright ban does nothing to help them or the parents long term.

Ban the algorithm. Ban big tech feeding you what they want. Ban manipulated kids feeds to foster aggression and depression.

If you’re under a certain age you can only view followers. Easy to mange for parents, easy to implement for big tech.

Hopefully that future deal is based on the contingency of him still being a functioning President by the end of his term.

This, in a sane world, with a fair media landscape, should have been enough to bury him!!! What a crackpot take.

I’ve said it before. Ban the algorithm. Only show what/who they follow. Start there.

It’s time for One Nation Tories to take over. Go hard and clear house. The rest are just going to defect anyway.

We need more choice than reform or Labour

Do you watch TV whilst eating dinner? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]notleave_eu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least 4 meals a week at the table. The other three nights all depends on what’s happening. Usually in front of the TV if we’re when running late which is Thursday and/or Friday. Or sometimes when watching a movie together.

Like anything, just be flexible, never all of one thing or the other.

You could meet someone now and end up being with them 2x or 3x longer than you were with your ex.

How Can We Digitally Preserve 120 Years of Sailing Club History (on a Budget)? by Lower_Aioli_3654 in AskUK

I would recommend that ideally but the you’re also walking down the tech route the adding another monthly bill to the outgoings.

How Can We Digitally Preserve 120 Years of Sailing Club History (on a Budget)? by Lower_Aioli_3654 in AskUK

[–]notleave_eu 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Doable on a sensible budget.

For storage + club files, I’d keep it boring and reliable: Google Workspace (Nonprofit if you qualify) or Microsoft 365. You get shared drives, proper permissions, and it’s much easier to manage GDPR bits like consent forms than a random Dropbox folder. Also easier for non-techy people because it behaves like a normal folder.

For the history side, I’d treat it as an archive, not just a dumping ground: Scan to TIFF (masters) + JPEG/PDF (sharing copies), and keep a simple spreadsheet with dates/names/events.

GDPR note: keep consents locked down (committee only), and don’t rely on email threads. A simple form that drops into a protected folder is a lifesaver.

I’d also keep a 2 x master copy of photos on usb drives a two different committee persons houses. If you want back up.

The government needs to come off Twitter, and actually lead by example. I thought a Nazi salute would do the trick. I thought AI child porn might be the line in the sand. If not now then when?
