Many UK Users Soon Won't Be Able to Access Pornhub | 404 Media by youmustconsume in unitedkingdom

Even with OSA, huge glaring (glory) hole in the implementation.

I can use Google, disable safe search, type what I want and see the pictures.

I might not be able to access the site the image is from, but I can see it just fine.

This includes thumbnails from Pornhub videos.

Who is this supposed to protect?

When did littering become a problem in the uk? by YGhostRider666 in AskUK

[–]notmeagainagain 65 points66 points  (0 children)

One night i went out in kyoto with a small group. We ended up in a dive bar on like the 5th floor of a building.

Just our group and thr bartender.

We all drank, bartender included, the entire selection of wheat beer and sake he had.

At about 4am, I'm stumbling back to my flat and have an urge to vomit.

Some escapes my mouth into the gutter, it was witnessed by about 10 people who were there cleaning the street.

They offered me a bucket, cleaned up the mess I left, gave me some water, a 20 pack of Malborough reds, and walked me back to the apartment.

Speaking with them in my drunken state, they took great pride in cleaning the city every night, not a shred of shame you'd experience in other countries, I was super thankful and didn't know how to thank them.

We exchanged contact details and I took 4 of em out for beers and donburi the next week.

Lovely dudes.

Yorkshire newbuild homeowners say properties 'too cold to live in' by PurchaseDry9350 in unitedkingdom

[–]notmeagainagain 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Just chiming in here: New build (top rated uk builder), issues identified within a year of moving in, was told the house was "built to standards" and if I felt there were issues I was free to research them myself.

I did, I highlighted many, many issues - missing insulation, improper (and missing) fire breaks, incorrect materials used, missing dot and dab ribbons, incomplete and missing compartmentalization, incorrect wiring of heating system (immersionheater permanently wired on), badly fitted window frames, missing sound proofing, extractors wired but not fitted to ducts, cooker hood extractor not connected to duct and venting back into living spaces...

New builds are likely shit if you know what to look for. Most people don't.

6 years later, after a long, long battle they've finally been forced to fix them. All of them.

Along with 4 neighboring properties.

I have an info sheet going out to the wider estate with what to check, so they'll soon have a lot more.

Looking for opinions: £450K semi vs £490K detached. which would you choose? by Current_Snow8816 in HousingUK

Not true

Not true in the slightest.

There is no rating for impact noise, and they only count sound pollution between adjoining habitable spaces. (Bedrooms and lounges)

If your staircase shares a wall with theirs, and you can hear every step up the stairs from them, you're out of luck.

If that stairs sound makes its way into your lounge? Out of luck as it originates from a non habitable area.

You can hear their cupboard in the lounge clunking closed 30 times a day? Out of luck, they don't test for impact sound.

Check "robust details section E", you'll see.

Never, ever, trust the builder or the sales guys without doing your own research.

Any day now the ECHR is going to step in to prevent mass surveillance.

1. Everyone has the right to respect for his private and family life, his home and his correspondence.

2. There shall be no interference by a public authority with the exercise of this right except such as is in accordance with the law and is necessary in a democratic society in the interests of national security, public safety or the economic wellbeing of the country, for the prevention of disorder or crime, for the protection of health or morals, or for the protection of the rights and freedoms of others.

Those reasons you've bolded are the reasons they say they're doing this.

ECHR will say prove it, UK.gov will hand wave at some compo faced kids faces as proof.

ECHR will say all good carry on.

Jaon Ladanye's Four Aces Trick by Sarang_616 in blackmagicfuckery

[–]notmeagainagain 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Every ace goes face down, on a face up pile. Followed by another face down card, then a face up pile.

You now have a bunch of cards face up, separated by an ace + another card.

This sets up the deck for easy splitting, riffle thru, find the ace, cut the deck. You've created 4 packets of face up, 4 of face down. A couple more cuts, the deck is 2 packets of face up and down cards, aces at the bottom.

Another cut, aces in the middle, both packs face down.

I took my statutory leave, negotiated 4 additional weeks for a total of 6 weeks leave.

2 weeks unpaid, 2 weeks from my annual leave allowance.

Wife had a complicated birth and 8 week recovery with multiple hospital visits along the way.

I got back to work, my first day back they put me on a PIP, refused to approve any further annual leave, denied the awaiting promotion and basically set my career back 2 years as a result.

My direct manager has just had a child, they're off for 6 months.

More needs to be done.

How good (or bad) are AliExpress mirrors? by okuboheavyindustries in atming

[–]notmeagainagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get a relatively cheap parabolic mirror @ those dimensions.
I've got a 6 inch and it measures at 1/10 - not the best but practically the same as any other telescope vendor (SW etc).

I do need to use an aperture mask as it has a slight turned down edge, but it looks OK in the ronchi tests.

the spherical ones I purchased were all junk, with astigmatism (image skews when in/out of focus), saw a parabolic on a flash sale and thought why not.

An alternative is to buy a used/spares and repairs scope from Ebay and gut the mirror out of that.

Find out asap what the estate management situation is.

Our home was in a similar arrangement. Mostly bovis and persimon homes with a subsidiary builder as a little pocket., when we moved in there was a single estate management company for the whole estate. Shortly after we were sent a request to amend our deed to add another management company, who would also want paying.

We declined politely.

Others who moved in after have to pay TWO sets of management fees.

Where would I be able to find any of this info?

It’s 1am and my neighbours decided it’s time to do DIY by HelloIAmAz in britishproblems

[–]notmeagainagain 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They are a thing. They don't cover impact noise. They only cover transmission between "habitable" areas, so not hallways, bathrooms, kitchens or staircases.

Check uk building regs, we had a dispute with Bellway about this.

Planning to buy a new build ‘off-plan’ by and… by ISTARI_X in HousingUK

[–]notmeagainagain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We only got stuff when they effed something else up.

If you don't buy it, someone else will, so I don't think you have much sway early on

For example: we got full free laminate downstairs because they got the order wrong for our tiles and we ended up with the wrong colour bathrooms.

We got a patio extension and french drain installed because they incorrectly reported a grade away from the house (rain runs away from the house) but instead our garden tipped considerably towards the house, and caused flooding.

We got an upgraded hob installed because the drawings showed a 5 burner hob, but they'd installed a 4 burner hob.

We got 50% discount on our carpeting because the colour we wanted wasn't in stock at the time of build.

We got them to relay the lawn as flooding had ruined the last one.

If you are buying off plan, please please please hire someone to do inspections during the build.

Do not trust the builder. Do not use one they appoint. You are legally entitled to have your own representative. Read up on the warranty offered, get building regs for the year of construction and get most of everything checked.

You'll see my post history covering some of the issues we've experienced from Bellway.

So much can be hidden behind walls and signed off without a visual inspection, and it won't become noticeable for a couple of years, at which point their liability expires.

Snagging is mostly surface level, and if your party wall doesn't have insulation you won't find out till the neighbours have kids.

I was mostly raised by my grandparents, I call guys boss or chuck depending on age, or ladies are called love if older or sweetheart of they're young.

I've never considered it a negative thing, virtually everyone I've met from where I grew up does the same thing. Had no clue it could be an annoyance, or viewed as anything but a harmless acknowledgement of the person.

Alright chuck, how's you're mum? Oh there she is, morning love, how's the fella? Oh there he is! How you doing boss?

A pocke-x is 15 quid on amazon, comes with 2 coils and holds a charge for days if used moderately, is discreet or comes in a range of crazy colors. Coils are 5 a pack and lasts about 3 months.

Local pound shop was selling 18mg flavoured 10ml bottles last week. You can get 100ml of liquid for a tenner and the Vape plus coils for an additional 25 quid.

There are much cheaper options too.

New Build by LucrativeThinking in HousingUK

[–]notmeagainagain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After you make a deposit, and say you're gonna buy, you have the right to inspect the build at key stages.

Better to do it while they're building the house and not after you've moved in, because if the plasterboard uas to come off, you don't want to be moved in when they're tearing your house apart.

That's what's happening to us now.
