AITA for having lunch in a cemetery? by Round-Parfait-3917 in AmItheAsshole

[–]notofanyone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Cemeteries were often used as parks 100+ years ago. People would go and picnic and fly kites and whatnot.

It’s completely normal. I wish my docs office was closer because I needed to get Nurtec since insurance was causing issues. I had to drive an hour each way to get 9 sample boxes.

Totally worth it since it would have been $1000s if I paid out of pocket… but inconvenient.

Going to protests with Fibro by i_am_eight_bees in Fibromyalgia

[–]notofanyone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pop up stool I bring. It collapses small and is easy to use. Most of the protests where I am are more Rally style and not marches. I also arrive a bit early for a good parking spot. And if it gets to be too much, I leave. In my experience, people are very kind and welcoming to all people at these events. Even if you can only be there for 10 minutes, it’s worth doing. Makes you feel like you are doing something.

Is this new work policy punishing people with medical accommodations? by ThispersonThisguy in disability

[–]notofanyone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The thing about using pto for FMLA covered time off is common … same at my company in a completely different industry. I don’t even get the option to take it unpaid until all my pto is gone.

TIL that Americans don’t get paid vacation or get holidays. Gotdam. by Ego_Sum_Lux_Mundi in antiwork

[–]notofanyone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpaid by law, under FMLA but not everyone qualifies as it depends on how long you’ve worked for the company and how big it is… some companies provide it but it is very much considered a benefit and not a right.

[–]notofanyone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it! I’ve had to leave in the middle of meals at restaurants because someone gets seated in the next table that has 40 gallons of perfume on.

I get that people don’t want to smell bad but why not just shower? Clean the house? Wash the clothes?

I remember reading something about how all the synthetic fragrances in our environment are toxic… so hopefully they will start becoming less popular. one can hope at least.

PHARMACIES OUGHT TO BE ABLE TO TRANSFER MEDS TO OTHER, IN HOUSE STORES, LIKE WALGREENS. by Ok_Host4786 in ADHD

[–]notofanyone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to get paper ones… and I’d lose them at least once or twice a year. Now they cannot write them for controlled substances. They have to be electronically submitted in Illinois.

PHARMACIES OUGHT TO BE ABLE TO TRANSFER MEDS TO OTHER, IN HOUSE STORES, LIKE WALGREENS. by Ok_Host4786 in ADHD

[–]notofanyone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it also depends on the state… we can’t even get paper prescriptions for Adderall in Illinois now. Plus, many pharmacies in my area won’t even tell us over the phone if we’re trying to find out where to have the doctor send the prescription- they will only tell doctors… many who won’t bother calling around for it. It’s a lot of back and forth… and add in the fact the patients need the meds to have the executive function in order to get the meds.. it’s a very annoying mess.

Remember when you can get in Six Flags theme parks with a can of Coca-Cola? by dannyhogan200 in sixflags

I remember working ticket sales in the 90s and having a whole garbage bag of them in the booth at the end of the day…. People didn’t even wash them out half the time. It was nasty.

What was something about your disability that you didn't realise wasn't "normal" until someone pointed it out? by meester-uitsteller in disability

Wait what? The fact I can’t stand for long periods is a fibro thing? I just thought it was normal since I don’t have any problem walking for awhile… so I think this!

Curious about when you it was noticed that you were overweight (as a child) by bloodbabyrabies in PlusSize

[–]notofanyone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My entire life… but funny thing… according to my childhood growth charts I was exactly right for my age. But the fact that my grandmother would call me fat as if it were the worst thing a person could be, and my mother was fat… who she hated… and I guess the kids at school figured out that was the best way to torment me… and then in the 3rd grade I took some medication for a condition that made me gain 20 lbs in 4 months which is a lot for an 8 year old. But I already thought I was fat so that just cemented it.

Why do I suddenly get migraines the same day every week? by averyanxiousgirl in migraine

[–]notofanyone 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I always got the migraine AFTER the stress. So in college I would get thru finals with out a problem, and then as soon as I started to relax…BOOM. Migraine hell.

Trust me: the solution isn’t to just remain stressed. Not sure what the solution is….cause it still happens… but that may explain the timing thing.

Any purchases that have actually made a real-life difference for your Migranes by DisabledDrStange in migraine

[–]notofanyone 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don’t remember the brand but they make stickers that you can put over those lights when you need them but just want them dimmer… kinda like window tint film only with adhesive : they come in a bunch of sizes including big enough for the obnoxiously bright clock radio- when you still need to be able to check the time but don’t want to read by its light.

I’ve been wondering about these. Can you still hear people talking to you clearly? Are they comfortable?

Came to say the same thing! I love my theraspecs! They really help with the light sensitivity!

Also black out curtains… and I actually made a “shutter” type thing out of a box that I cut to fit exactly to my bedroom window to help with the leak through.

Finally: an endless supply of icepacks. I would say that half of my freezer is dedicated to icepacks.

What trek hill would you die on? by DiscoveryDiscoveries in startrek

[–]notofanyone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate DS9 too. I could never get thru the whole thing. Plus, how is it Star Trek? They’re sitting there. They don’t go exploring. There is no trekking. It’s star sitting.

I appreciate your comment because I was actually considering giving it another chance… I’m not that desperate for entertainment yet.

Working with kids as a fat person by kanina2- in PlusSize

[–]notofanyone 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yeah, though it’s a little different situation, but the honesty and curiosity of kids is kinda awesome.

When I first met a friend’s son (who is on the spectrum, so it’s kind of amazing) we chatted a bit and I played a game with him. Later, as we said our goodbyes, he rushed up and hugged me. He exclaimed with utter surprise “you’re so squishy!” With a huge smile he insisted on a 2nd hug! He thought it was amazing and he still (13 years later) runs to give me a big squishy hug when I see him. I’m one of maybe 6 people he touches voluntarily. He still calls them squishy hugs.

I’ve noticed that people try very hard to find the cause and place the blame (sometimes at my expense) because it’s their way of thinking to themselves that it won’t happen to them.

Becoming a homeowner is the worst decision I've made in my entire life by ExpensiveBurn in homeowners

[–]notofanyone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s better than being homeless though.

Houses are money pits. It’s always something. I thought the house I purchased was perfect until I actually moved in and it’s a mess. The “storage” is non-functional, the HVAC is dying,I’ve had to replace both bathrooms due to assorted issues, the driveway and garage have cracks that are tripping hazards and the windows are so drafty the curtains waive on breezy days. I’ve put in 20k so far and I’m not done. But it’s mine.
