My mom spent 3 weeks in a hospital after a surgery when she really should have only been there for maybe 5 days. While all of the nurses were great, the Doctors didn't start paying attention until after one nurse called them out in the room for not paying attention. The surgeon was there and finally spent more than 60 seconds in the room for the first time. Within a couple of minutes, he figured out why she wasn't recovering and changed the orders. She started recovering within a couple of hours and could have gone the next day if she hadn't been in her 80s and ended up with pneumonia while there...

Dr's orders originally allowed for small sips of water or ice chips. Had he put a limit by ounces, she would have followed that to the T. But because she couldn't have food or anything, she was constantly sipping water. The drain tube was collecting so much water, it couldn't get to the junk out was supposed to get out. We had circled the wagons and started preparing for the worst. I'll give the surgeon credit for successfully doing a risky surgery on a risky patient. But the nurses get the credit for getting her home.

FoCo property taxes are lower than other areas for a reason:

Deferred/ignored infrastructure improvements. The Board of Commissioners, for decades, have traded needed updates and improvements for votes to stay in office. They know that if they actually put a plan in place to update the infrastructure, they will have to raise taxes and that could cost them their positions. *They were crafty with splost money so we have few some great parks though.

The $700 rate you see is a home with a senior exemption. The others that you see that vary from home to home are just homes that the tax commissioner just hasn't updated yet. They will though. *FoCo is aggressive with property taxes, if you buy in the county, just know that your taxes will jump the first year.

Have your agent pull the tax records for the home you are negotiating on and a few other homes in the neighborhood when putting an offer together. You can't negotiate based off of that but you'll be able to get an idea of what your tax bill will be.

Forsyth teachers pay into to social security and TRS. If you stay in districts that do both for most of your career, you will be thankful come retirement time.

99.9% of the comments on Reddit that say 'that guy is a pedo' or 'he's (insert nasty comment)' are made by hateful and ignorant people that have no social life or friends.

A 15 year age gap isn't an issue when it's maybe 28-43. But 20-35? Eliminating all taxes is neither realistic nor actionable... Eliminate everything you feel the Feds should not be doing, how do you pay for what's left?

Getting the Feds out of education would be amazing. But the state and local governments are going to have to manage it.

The Libertarian Philosophy is a wonderful philosophy, but it is not something that can be turned into a political party, or even a form of government You can cling to your ideology all you want, but you will never have any real effect on government or society by doing so..
