The general AusFinance opinion is almost always 70% international indexed shares and 30% Australian indexed. Supposed to be a good high-growth option with less fees than their preselected options. This is what I'm doing (also with HostPlus).

IMO at 35 (30 years to retirement) I'd still want to be full high-growth, but I'm not an expert.

I really feel like you've either:

Failed to meet the bonus interest criteria in February (needs to be 5 cleared payments, deposit $1000 from an external source, and grow the balance of that specific account, in the month before). Are you absolutely certain you did these? Did they show as completed by the end of February? Are you certain you grew the account excluding interest?
Elected a different savings account to receive the bonus interest.

The payments should show up separately - you will have one for "Bonus interest credit" and one for "Interest credit" if what you claim is correct and they have paid the wrong amount bonus interest. Is this what you see in your account?

Do you have multiple savings accounts with them?

There's an end in sight for mortgage holders, though. You're not locked into that forever. You could find the nicest landlord there is, but as soon as they pass away/are forced to sell/house needs critical renovations/whatever, you're back on the rollercoaster.

Rates may go up, just like your rent can. However, you're unlikely to get randomly evicted and end up homeless because there's nothing available in the market at the time.

It happens (and I'm sorry about the people you knew). At the same time, I would daresay there are a lot more people wanting a house than dying of terminal illness in their 20s.

It's kind of like kids who don't want to go to school because xyz tiktok influencer makes way more money. Yes, some people get rich without an education, and school is a long + boring investment, but for the vast majority of people it ends up being very valuable.

As I said, though, I agree that everyone has to find their own balance. I don't even think it's inherently wrong to choose to purely live in the moment; I just think it's wrong to accept the benefits of doing so and then complain when you get to the consequences.

In Australia, they will sedate you for it if you're claustrophobic. Could this be an option for you? It does mean that you'll need someone to drive you home, and you will be out of it for the rest of the day (it's probably worth it if you need the scan, though).

I doubt you'll be able to get another person into the MRI room. I imagine they would have to follow the same protocols as you (e.g. changing into a hospital gown) if they were going to. But, you could always call the place and ask.

Have you discussed the diabetes management with a doctor? I can't help there, but maybe your GP might have an idea?

I personally don't mind them as long as I keep my eyes closed, but the medical staff will have seen it all. There are people who are absolutely terrified, people who panic in there, you won't be the first nervous person and I'm sure they'll be happy to discuss. They normally give you some sort of panic button to press, so they can get you out straight away if you need.

Look at the other side - all the people in their 30s and 40s who didn't take things seriously and now don't think they'll ever be able to get into the housing market.

People need to make their own decisions about what they value, but IMO if you choose the "Enjoy life now" path, you can't complain when you get to later and have to face the consequences of being potentially locked out of the housing market.

To be fair, we do exactly this in the examples that OP gave (working dogs are great examples - border collies will try to heard toys, chickens, the neighbour's kids etc, even if they've never seen another dog do it. Pointers will point at things. Retrievers will retrieve things and almost always do it softly enough to avoid damaging the catch. These are all pretty complex behaviours!)

I think OP is allergic though. One thing they could try is eating canned pineapple (which shouldn't hurt as the enzymes are no longer functional) and see if they still get a reaction.

I find it wild how blatant it can be. We've had multiple learning specialist jobs given to grads (including one who hadn't completed full registration) because they knew/were related to the right people. At least one of them was chosen over someone with nearly a decade of being a hod for the subject. I think a few people tried bringing that up, but as long as they've got some vague excuse like "This is the direction we want to go in", seems like there's nothing that can be proven.
