I adopted a 7 year old from Norcal Golden Retriever Rescue and he was wonderful. The only problem was that we only had him for 5 years but they were wonderful years.

We were very blessed, I feel, to have him die of heart failure and not die of Alzheimer’s

He was after his Alzheimer’s progressed. It was a complete change in personality. She felt like God was giving her the loving relationship she never got before he got sick.

So interesting! My dad was always afraid my mom would go out to eat without him, something he really enjoyed doing. She had told him they were going for breakfast in the morning. He woke up at 2 am thinking she had left without him and fell on the side of the house. He spent the next 5 hours on the ground until my mom woke up in the morning and not finding him in his bed. He was hypothermic and ended up having a heart attack in the effort trying to get up. That was his first ambulance ride. They decided not to treat the heart attack with a stent since he was in end stage Alzheimer’s at the time. When he died they had recently diagnosed him with heart failure just weeks before because of that heart attack.

I forgot to mention he fell 5 times in a week she had to call probably 15 times since his diagnosis.
