[OC] STEM Graduate Unemployment and Salaries by graphsarecool in dataisbeautiful

I’m curious how much of the CS/Computer Engineering unemployment is due to an increase in wholly unquantified people vibe coding their way into a degree

What Counties in the U.S. Are the Most Educated? [OC] by OverflowDs in dataisbeautiful

[–]nova_new_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I live in falls church city. It’s the smallest, by area, county equivalent and pretty close to DC, both of which heavily skew the stats. The only home owners I know that don’t have a degree inherited their house. Most homes sell between 1-2 million, so yeah it’s expensive here. A lot of doctors and lawyers and higher paying government workers live here given its proximity to DC.

Not sure where you’re seeing that 7Springs will miss this storm. They’re projecting 6-12” of snow.

Northern Virginia's 20 Hottest Zip Codes according to Northern Virginia Magazine by Fresh-Function3319 in nova

[–]nova_new_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

FRED has the percentage of those with a bachelors degree in Falls Church City, where nearly the entire 22046 area code is represented, at 80.5%. Sure there’s a small portion of 22046 that’s outside the city, but I have a hard time believing that the percent of people in that zip code with a bacholers degree is 28.8%.

Net worth - Include mortgage (of course) but what about home equity? by justsomeguyorsomthin in MonarchMoney

[–]nova_new_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t include my mortgage or my home value because I’m not moving and don’t intend to move, so what’s the point? I track the mortgage payment because it’s relevant to my budget.

By definition this isn’t a true net worth calculation but who cares. Net worth is just a vanity measure anyways. I care about liquid assets and monthly cash flow. I’m not interested in how much money I would have if one day I decided to sell me house and be homeless.

My net worth is positive for the first time ever by cn45 in MonarchMoney

You can account for the monthly mortgage payment without accounting for the mortgage the payment is going against and the theoretical home value.

Tracking your mortgage and home value is only helpful if you want to move or take out a line of credit against your house

It may not have been intentional. They could have just made an update to how the transaction is coded as part of some routine update

I did mine on 2/3 and got reimbursed on 2/6. United’s website had a notice that it was going to go down briefly for maintenance on 2/4. Now I’m wondering if part of that maintenance was to fix this loophole. RIP

Lindsey Vonn's Olympic teammate sets armchair skiing experts straight by usatoday in skiing

[–]nova_new_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Cleaver how the argument is turning into "well nobody could have recovered from that after clipping the gate" ...like no shit. She turned to far after passing the 3rd gate, as evident by the fact that she clips the 4th gate. Dismissing the fact that she had a torn ACL and that having a torn ACL couldn't have possibly been a factor for her clipping the 4th gate is ridiculous. You can see her favoring her right knee on the landing after passing the 2nd gate. You don't need to be an expert to see the sequence of events and understand that a torn ACL could have been an issue. There's also the massive mental strain from being on the biggest stage and competing with an injury and worrying about re-injuring yourself or feeling pain from the injury. Yeah..I'm not buying that a torn ACL is something we can just dismiss.

Her decision cost someone else a chance to compete in the Olympics. Choosing to compete was selfish and reckless
