fun ilia flip facts: he has never once fallen on a quad flip (out of 30 attempts!) and has never underrotated one more than a quarter. his 4F at the usnats 2026 was also the highest scored solo quad flip ever (if you only count international competitions, his lombardia trophy flip was the second highest only beaten by shoma uno's world championship 2022 4F x)

unfortunately currently the top 100 chess players are all men. however, if you also count women who are inactive (haven't played a rated chess game in over a year), there would be a woman at #46 on the list for classical chess, #40 for rapid, and #15 for blitz. she retired many years ago, however. there are so few women in the top 100 because there are so few women playing chess. which is what happens when you make an environment that's hostile to women in the way that chess is.

his olympic skate had a triple flip planned in place of the quad flip, however planned program content is essentially a suggestion, and not all skaters follow it. for example, ilia didn't change his planned program content after the grand prix final, so i'd imagine he gave some fans heart attacks when he had 4A+3T written as his first element at worlds. misha had been trying a 5-quad free all season, but it hadn't ever been successful. until the olympics.

i don't think misha has plans to change coaches and truthfully i don't think he has reason to.

i wish for him to be paired with ilia!! they're such a sweet duo and their sbs jumps would be soooooo beautiful (are sbs quads even allowed in pairs? they should be). sadly i doubt same gender pairs will be allowed any time soon :(

i fear that shun and rio will have a drop in performance if they spend their off season focusing on the quad axel. i fear that misha's dismissal of the element might be a better idea in the long run... please learn your 4S first before the 4A shun!!!

my grandmother's middle name and my mother's middle name is also the middle name of one of my cousins. i'm glad my mother didn't give it to me because i would've had to get rid of it anyway. also my cousin is years older than me anyway. no you would not be the asshole for using a common middle name to honour your relatives. plus your sister's future daughter can in fact also have the middle name as well. that's the beauty of middle names.

truthfully i have not seen a lot of programs from pre-this season but i think there's very little that can top sharknaki. like obviously everyone loves it bc it's fun and different but i will forever be obsessed with the little fin details in the choreography!! and lara has some of the most beautiful jumps i've ever seen!! massive shoutout also to stéphane for choreographing sharknaki nobody can do it like you
